In the seventh year of Hongwu in Ming Dynasty (1382 AD), Bozhou was transferred to Guizhou. In 1601, Suiyang County was restored.
In 1687, the military and civilian government of Zunyi was renamed zunyifen. In 1728, Suiyang was transferred from Sichuan to Guizhou with the military and civilian government of Zunyi.
In 1913, Suiyang County belonged to Qianzhong road. In 1918, it belonged to Guizhou Province. In 1935, it was the fifth administrative region of Zunyi.
In 1949, it belonged to Zunyi district. It belongs to Zunyi area in 1970 and Zunyi City since 1997.
