Hongyuan County Hongyuan county is a county under the jurisdiction of Aba Tibetan and Qiang Autonomous Prefecture in Sichuan Province. In 1960, Premier Zhou Enlai named Hongyuan County, which means the prairie that the red army went through during the long march.

In Tang Dynasty, Gongzhou and Liuxian were set up in Shujing temple area.
In the Yuan Dynasty, the Tusi system was established and Songzhou and panzhou were set up. The jurisdiction included most of the northern and central parts of Hongyuan, which was later transferred to Shaanxi Province.
In the Ming Dynasty, Songzhou was still set up in the north and Songpan hall was set up; zagu pacification department was set up in the south.
In the Qing Dynasty, the northwest of the county was subordinate to Songzhou, and in the southeast, Tukou and Sizhai belonged to suomo Tusi and zhuokeji Tusi among the four Tusi.
During the period of the Republic of China, the South and the north of Hongyuan were under the jurisdiction of Lifan county and Songpan county respectively.
After the founding of the people's Republic of China, in March 1954, Sichuan Tibetan Autonomous Region (now Aba Tibetan and Qiang Autonomous Prefecture) established zhihongyuan Shujing temple for four years.
In August 1958, Aba Prefecture moved to ma'erkang, and Lifan County moved from the original region to Hongyuan to govern Shujing temple.
In July 1960, Hongyuan county was established with the approval of the State Council.
In December 2019, Sichuan Provincial People's government agreed to abolish longri Township and establish longri town in Hongyuan county.
