In the Neolithic Age of Lixian County, human beings lived and multiplied along the Zagunao River. Yugong is the territory of Liangzhou, which belongs to Jiandi Dao in Qin Dynasty.
Wenshan County was set up in the sixth year of Yuanding (111 BC) in the Western Han Dynasty, and it entered the central territory. Guangrou county was established in the third year of Dijie (67 BC) in the Western Han Dynasty, belonging to Shu county.
The seventh year of Guanghe (178), the Lingdi emperor of the Eastern Han Dynasty, belonged to Hanshan county.

In the early period of the Republic of China, Tingzhou was changed to county, and in 1913, it was changed to Lipan County, belonging to Western Sichuan. In 1946, in order to ease the ethnic conflicts, Li Fan county was renamed Li county.
Li County People's government was established on January 16, 1950, which belongs to Maoxian special district. In November 1951, the county government moved from Xue Cheng to Zagunao. Water resources
Zagunao River (formerly known as tuoshui) flows from northwest to Southeast, across the whole territory, to Wenchuan County and flows into Minjiang River. The flow is fast and the cutting is strong, and the length of the county is 146km.
There is a large river drop in hydropower resources, which is rich in hydropower resources. The exploitable capacity is up to 420000kw. 37 small and medium-sized power stations with a total installed capacity of 35400kw have been built.
At present, Ganbao power station, Lixian power station, Hongye I and II power stations have been built.
