Renshou County Renshou County is subordinate to Meishan City, Sichuan Province. It is 34.32 km southeast of Dongpo District, Meishan City. The county is 50 km away from Chengdu City in the north, 80 km away from Leshan City in the South and 70 km away from Ziyang City in the East. In 2020, Renshou County governs 4 streets, 26 towns and 2 townships. It covers an area of 2716.86 square kilometers (of which, Meishan District of Tianfu new area is entrusted to manage 1 street and 4 towns). The registered residence population was 1 million 540 thousand in 2018 and the resident population was 1 million 201 thousand.
Renshou County is one of the first pilot counties in Sichuan Province to expand power and strengthen the county, an advanced county for county economic development, a top ten County for hilly economy, a demonstration county for industrial strength, a pilot county for comprehensive reform of small and medium-sized cities, and a radiation County in Tianfu new area.
Renshou County is 70km away from Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport and 30km away from Chengdu Tianfu International Airport. Tianfu Avenue, the 180 meter wide central axis of a world-class city, runs directly to the county seat. Suizi Meizhou Expressway and ring expressway of Chengdu Economic Zone run through the whole area. Chengdu Yichang expressway, Chengdu Chishou expressway, Renshou avenue of Tianfu, national highway 213, and the South extension of Hongxing Road and Zhanhua road will be implemented soon, which will lead directly to Chengdu.
In 2016, Renshou County achieved a GDP of 36.8 billion yuan and a local general public budget revenue of 2.2 billion yuan.
Renshou County has been selected as one of the top 100 counties and cities with national investment potential in 2018, one of the top 100 counties and cities with national green development, one of the top 100 counties and cities with national investment potential in 2019, and one of the top 100 counties and cities in Western China in 2019.
Historical evolution
In the Zhou Dynasty, it was the land of Shu.
In the Qin Dynasty, it was a prefecture of Shu.
In Han Dynasty, it belonged to Wuyang County of Qianwei county and Guangdu County of Shu county.
In the Shu Han Dynasty, it was the eastern part of Wuyang County, Qianwei county.
In the Southern Dynasties, Liang county was established as Huairen County, a county under the jurisdiction of Huairen county.
In the Northern Dynasty and Western Wei Dynasty, Huairen county was renamed Puning, belonging to Huairen County of Lingzhou.
In the third year of kaihuang (583) of Sui Dynasty, it was Lingzhou, which was under the jurisdiction of five counties after the strike, with Puning County as the seat of State Administration.
In 598, Emperor Wen of the Sui Dynasty gave the name of the palace, and changed Puning to Renshou. The name of the county has been used for more than 1400 years.
In the fourth year of Xianping in the Northern Song Dynasty (1001), Shijian county (now Zhangjia area of Renshou County) was incorporated into Jingyan county.
In 1073, Renshou belonged to Chengdu Fu Road.
When Mongolia entered Sichuan, Chengdu government was changed into a road. Renshou County belongs to Chengdu Road.
During the reign of emperor Xianzong of Yuan Dynasty (1209-1259), Guiping county and Jixian County were abolished and Renshou County was established. In 1283, Jingyan was incorporated into Renshou County.
In the early Ming Dynasty, the fourth year of Hongwu (1371), the emperor Taizu of the Ming Dynasty, set up Chengdu Prefecture, which belongs to Sichuan Province. Renshou County belongs to Chengdu Prefecture.
In the sixth year of Hongwu in the Ming Dynasty, Zhu Yuanzhang, the Taizu, issued an imperial edict to withdraw Laifeng Township from Renshou County and restore Jingyan county.
In 1727, Renshou County was changed into Zhili prefecture (abolished in 1913).
Before 1925, Renshou County was under the jurisdiction of Sichuan provincial government.
In 1936, it belonged to the second administrative supervision district of Sichuan Province.
Renshou was liberated on December 16, 1949.
On January 1, 1950, the people's Government of the county was established, which belongs to Neijiang District of southern Sichuan administrative region.
Renshou was changed into Leshan District in 1958, and seven townships, including Xiaohe Town (Huilong), Wanchang town and Yuexi, Baiguo, Qinglin, Taihe, Lianghe, Yulin and Yongjian, under the jurisdiction of Wangyang District, were included in Weiyuan County.
In 1976, 11 townships in Jitian district (Jitian Township, Hongwu Township, Yanxi Township, Jiancha Township, Xinqin Township, Huishui Township, Honghua Township, Liugong Township, Dalin Township, Yuhuang Township, Sanhe township) were assigned to Shuangliu County.
In 1985, the District of Leshan was removed to build a city, and Renshou was still under the jurisdiction of Leshan City.
In 1997, it was under the jurisdiction of Meishan district.
In 2000, Meishan city was built from land, and Renshou County was under the jurisdiction of Meishan City.

In September 2011, Xingsheng township was established from township to town.
In 2012, Guansi township was removed from the township and built into a town.
On October 2, 2014, the State Council approved the establishment of Sichuan Tianfu new area. Shigao town of Renshou County is located in the planning of Tianfu New Area in Sichuan Province.
On November 16, 2015, the general office of Sichuan Provincial People's government issued the "Reply of Sichuan Provincial People's Government on the master plan of Sichuan Tianfu New Area", which agreed with the master plan of Sichuan Tianfu New Area (2010-2030) (2015 Edition) in principle. Xingsheng Town, Qingshui Town, Wengong Town, aoling Township, Gaojia town and Guansi town in Renshou County of Meishan City were included in the coordination and control area.
In March 2016, Zhonggang township was set up as a town.
In March 2017, the people's Government of Sichuan Province issued the reply on approving Dongpo District and Renshou County of Meishan City to adjust the administrative divisions of some townships and townships (No. 4 of Chuanfu Civil Affairs): Yuantong Township, Liren Township and NongWang township of Renshou County were set up as towns respectively.
In November 2017, Meishan proposed a high starting point and high standard planning and construction of "economic belt around Tianfu New Area" (that is, Meishan area of Tianfu New Area).
