Shifang, a county-level city under the jurisdiction of Sichuan Province and managed by Deyang City, is located in Chengdu Plain, the hinterland of Sichuan Basin. It is adjacent to Mianzhu City and Jingyang District in the East, Guanghan City in the South and Pengzhou City in the west, belonging to the subtropical humid climate zone. Shifang once enjoyed the reputation of "immortal land of Yu trace" because of the footprints of Dayu. Li Bing, a famous water conservancy scientist in Qin Dynasty, once controlled the water here and died here. Shifang is also the hometown of Ma Daoyi, the eighth patriarch of Southern Zen Buddhism, and the place where Yong Chi, a famous general of Han Dynasty, was granted the title. Therefore, Shifang City is also called Yong city. The natural landscape of Shifang mainly includes Yinghua mountain and qingniutuo. On December 14, 2017, Shifang was awarded the fourth Sichuan civilization demonstration city. In November 2018, it was identified as the first batch of innovative counties (cities) by the Ministry of science and technology.
In 2018, Shifang achieved a GDP of 32.38 billion yuan, an increase of 9.3% over the previous year at comparable prices. Historical evolution
In the period of Kaiming Dynasty in ancient Shu, Shifang was the core area with developed economy and large population in Shu. The old annals called it "the empty of Ranqi, the cave of Qiangdi".
The establishment of Shifang was first seen in historical records. Liuhou family. Shifang has always been a small and secluded town in her 2200 year history of setting up a county. Even on a larger map, Shifang is only a remote ancient city in the northwest corner of Chengdu Plain and near the Longmen Mountains. During this period, liehou state was merged into Luoxian, Mianzhu and Guanghan three times in 1987.
In the sixth year of emperor Gaozu of Han Dynasty (201 BC), Shifang was established as a county. He was granted the title of Marquis YONGYA of Shifang by Zhang Liangji, who lived in 2500 households of Shifang. He was called Marquis Su and YONGYA of Jianyuan. He was in power for nine years.
In the third year of emperor Huidi of the Han Dynasty, his son yongjusi was appointed as the Marquis of wasteland, and changed to Yuan Julu. He was in power for 38 years.
In the third year of emperor Jingdi of the Han Dynasty, his grandson Yongye was named Zhonghou and changed to houye of the Yuan Dynasty.
In the sixth year of Zhongyuan period of emperor Jing of Han Dynasty, his great grandson yonghuan was named as Zhonghou and changed to YuanHou Huan. He was in power for thirty-one years. In the first year of Yuanding period of Emperor Wu, he was dismissed as a marquis and removed from the Marquis because he was not qualified to offer sacrifices to the emperor.
Shifang was reduced from a marquis state to an ordinary county after the removal of the state. It belongs to Guanghan County of Yizhou and ranks second in the county sequence. It has such official posts as "Shifang chief", "Shifang Cheng" and "Shifang Wei".
In the first year of the founding of the people's Republic of China (9 years), Wang Mang replaced the Han Dynasty, and the name of the state was "new". Shifang county was changed to Meixin county. After the death of Xinmang in 15 years, Shifang was renamed.
Yuwenjue destroyed the Western Wei Dynasty and established the Northern Zhou Dynasty (557), which was renamed Fangting county. After that, Fangting county (now Shifang City) was merged with Luo County, which was still called Luo County.
In the second year of Wude (619), Emperor Gaozu of the Tang Dynasty, Shifang county was divided into Luo County.
In 686, Wu Zetian established Hanzhou in Luo County and led five counties, including Luo, Mianzhu, Deyang, Shifang and Jintang. Shifang belongs to Hanzhou.
It was renamed Tongzhi County in Shu before the Five Dynasties, and it was renamed Shifang in seven years.
In the third year of Qiande (965), Emperor Taizu of the Northern Song Dynasty, Deyang County of Hanzhou was set up, and four counties (including Shifang county) were led under the jurisdiction of Xichuan road. In 1059, Xichuan road was changed to Chengdu Fu Road. In the Southern Song Dynasty, Deyang County in Hanzhou was still set up, and Lingxian county was the same as that in the Northern Song Dynasty.
In the first year of Zhongtong (1260), Emperor Shizu of Yuan Dynasty restored Hanzhou and led three counties (including Shifang county), belonging to Chengdu Road.
In the fourth year of Hongwu (1371), Emperor Taizu of the Ming Dynasty, Hanzhou still led three counties (including Shifang county), belonging to Chengdu Prefecture. In 1377, it was incorporated into Mianzhu County and restored in three years.
In the 26th year of Emperor Kangxi of Qing Dynasty (1687), Hanzhou was reduced to Sanzhou (Danzhou), no longer governing counties. Shifang county belongs to Chengdu Prefecture.
In 1913, Xichuan road was set up and Shifang belonged to it. In 1935, Shifang became a county under the jurisdiction of the 13th administrative supervision district of Sichuan Province.
In 1950, Lichuan westbound district was set up, and Shifang county belongs to Mianyang special district.
In 1953, Shifang county was assigned to Wenjiang District.
In 1960, Guanghan, Shifang County, known as Guanghan county.
In 1963, Shifang county was restored to Guanghan and Shifang counties.
In 1970, Wenjiang District was renamed Wenjiang area, and Shifang county belongs to Wenjiang area.
On March 3, 1983, Wenjiang District was abolished and Shifang was put under the jurisdiction of Chengdu.
On April 1, 1983, the Sichuan provincial Party committee and the Sichuan provincial government agreed to the report of Deyang County on its application for the construction of a prefecture level Deyang City, and informed Shifang county to participate in the preparatory group for the construction of Deyang City. On June 14, the CPC Sichuan Provincial Committee and Sichuan Provincial People's government formally submitted a report to the State Council. On August 18, the State Council approved the establishment of prefecture level Deyang City, and assigned Shifang and Guanghan counties, which were then Chengdu, to Deyang City.
On September 12, 1984, with the approval of the State Council, Shifang county was put under the jurisdiction of Deyang City from Chengdu City.
On September 29, 1994, with the approval of the State Council, it was agreed to abolish Shifang county and establish Shifang City (county level), with the former administrative region of Shifang County as the administrative region of Shifang City and entrusted by Sichuan provincial government to Deyang City.

On December 12, 2019, Sichuan Provincial People's Government approved Deyang City to adjust the administrative divisions of some towns and townships in five counties (cities, districts) including Jingyang district (cfzm [2019] No. 15): 1. Cancel Huilan town and put it under the jurisdiction of fangting street; 2. Cancel Yuanshi town and put it under the jurisdiction of Zaojiao street; 3. Shifang City is a combination of mountainous area, hilly area and plain area. From Zhujiaqiao, along the front mountain to the southwest to the edge of the Western Hills of Jiandi Township, and then to the southeast, Shifang plain, with an altitude of less than 700 meters and a total area of about 365 square kilometers, is formed by ancient lake deposits and shiting River alluvial deposits.
