Pengshui Miao and Tujia Autonomous County Pengshui Miao and Tujia Autonomous County is located in the southeast of Chongqing, in Wuling mountain area, in the lower reaches of Wujiang River. It is adjacent to Shizhu Tujia Autonomous County in the north, Lichuan City in Hubei Province in the northeast, Qianjiang District in the East, Youyang Tujia and Miao Autonomous County in the southeast, Yanhe County and Wuchuan County in Guizhou Province in the south, Daozhen County in Guizhou Province in the southwest, Wulong District in the west, and Fengdu County in the northwest. By the end of 2016, Pengshui Autonomous County, covering an area of 3903 square kilometers, has jurisdiction over 3 streets, 18 towns and 18 townships. The permanent resident population is 498200. There are 12 ethnic groups, including Han, Miao, Tujia, Mongolian and Dong. It is the only autonomous county with Miao as the main ethnic group in Chongqing, and the district with the largest population of Miao and Tujia in China.
In 2016, Pengshui autonomous county achieved a GDP of 12868.58 million yuan, an increase of 10.3%. Among them, the added value of the primary industry is 2524.67 million yuan, the added value of the secondary industry is 5322.96 million yuan, and the added value of the tertiary industry is 5020.95 million yuan. The ratio of the three industrial structures is 19.6:41.4:39.0. In 2019, the county's GDP will reach 22.228 billion yuan, an increase of 30.67%.
Pengshui Autonomous County is a tourism and leisure resort with Chinese characteristics. It has won the honorary titles of "the best cultural and leisure tourism County in China", "the hometown of Chinese bees" and "the hometown of national folk culture and art". In October 2017, it was named National Garden County by the Ministry of housing and urban rural development.
Historical evolution
Pengshui County belongs to the state of BA from Shang to spring and Autumn period; the Warring States belongs to the county of Chu and Qianzhong, and the Qin still belongs to the county of Qianzhong.
At the beginning of Jianyuan Dynasty (140 BC), Fuling county was set up, belonging to Ba County. In the first year of the founding of the people's Republic of China (9 years), Fuling county was changed into bating. In the first year of Jianwu (25 years), Fuling county was restored. In 201, the sixth year of Jian'an in the Eastern Han Dynasty, Badong was subordinate to the state. Fuling county was divided into Fuling, Yongning, Danxing and Hanjia counties.
Shu Han inherited Han system. In the first year of Zhangwu (211), Badong County was changed into Fuling County, Yongning County into Wanning county. Fuling county was located in Hanfu County, and Pengshui County was located in Fuling county. In the 13th year of Yanxi (250 years), Fuling county was located in Hanping county.
Jin Chengshu system. In the first year of Taikang (280), Danxing County entered Fuling county. Since the third year of Xianhe (328), the ethnic groups in Pengshui and other places revolted, which was known as "the death of manliao". Fuling County moved to Hanping county. In the Southern Qi Dynasty, Fuling and Hanjia counties were restored to Fuling county. In the fourth year of Baoding in the Northern Zhou Dynasty, Fuling and other counties were abandoned and Fengzhou was set up, belonging to Yizhou. In 574, Fengzhou was abolished and Qianzhou was established.
Sui kaihuang thirteen years (593), home Pengshui County, Qian'an county. Daye ten years (614 years), divided into Pengshui home Xin'an County. In 619, it was changed to Xinning County.
In 733, Jiangnan Road was divided into Jiangnan East Road, Jiangnan West Road and Qianzhong road. The Five Dynasties were under the jurisdiction of Qianzhou and Wutai armies.
In 1063, four counties, including DURU, Xinning, Yangshui and Hongdu, entered Pengshui and belonged to Qianzhou. In the first year of shaoding (1228), it belonged to Shaoqing Prefecture. In 1272, the hospital was moved to the foot of Hutou mountain on the West Bank of Wujiang River.
In the 28th year of the Yuan Dynasty (1291), Shaoqing mansion was promoted to the chief executive mansion. In 1330, it was renamed Shaoqing road.

In 1371, Shaoqing Prefecture was abolished and Pengshui County was transferred to Chongqing Prefecture; in 1372, Qianjiang county was abolished and Pengshui County was transferred to Pengshui; in 1377, Wulong county was abolished and Pengshui County was transferred to Fuzhou; in 1380, Wulong county was restored; in 1381, Qianjiang county was restored. In the 33rd year of Jiajing (1554), the hospital moved from the foot of Hutou mountain to Hanjia.
In the second year of Shunzhi (1645) of Qing Dynasty, it was restored to Chongqing government. Yongzheng 12 years (1734), change Li Qian Peng military and civilian department. Qianlong first year (1736), changed to Youyang Zhili Prefecture.
In 1913, it belonged to Dongchuan Road. In 1927, it was transferred to Sichuan provincial governor's office. In 1935, it was transferred to the eighth administrative supervision district of Sichuan Province.
After the founding of the people's Republic of China, in January 1950, it belonged to Fuling District of East Sichuan Administration. In September 1952, it belongs to Fuling District of Sichuan Province. In June 1968, it belongs to Fuling area of Sichuan Province. On November 14, 1983, with the approval of the State Council, Pengshui Miao and Tujia Autonomous County was rebuilt and established on November 10, 1984. Since 1987, it has been transferred to Qianjiang area. In June 1997, it was transferred to Chongqing Municipality. In February 2020, Pengshui County will withdraw from the national key poverty alleviation and development counties.
