Gangbei District Gangbei district is under the jurisdiction of Guigang City, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. It was established in 1996 with the establishment of Guigang City at the prefecture level and belongs to the county-level administrative region. Gangbei district is located in the middle of Xunyu plain in Guangxi. It is the geometric center of Nanning, Liuzhou, Beihai and Wuzhou, and the political, economic and cultural center of Guigang City.
Gangbei district is an important cement production and gold and silver mining base in Guangxi, the main production base of milk buffalo and the largest orchid production base in Guangxi.
By the end of 2010, Gangbei district had jurisdiction over eight townships, towns and streets, with a total area of 1020 square kilometers and a total population of 664000. In 2010, the urban area was 45 square kilometers, and the urban population was more than 400000.
Gangbei district is the hometown of Shi Dakai, the wing king of the Taiping Heavenly Kingdom, and Luo Ergang, a famous historian.
Historical evolution
Gangbei district has a long history. In the 33rd year of Emperor Qinshihuang (214 BC), Bushan county was set up, which belongs to Guilin county. The county government is in today's Gangbei district. At the end of the Qin Dynasty, it was renamed Yuzhou. From the Han Dynasty to the southern and Northern Dynasties, it belonged to Yulin County in the song and Qi dynasties. From 558 to 589 ad, it belonged to nandingzhou.
In the Sui Dynasty, Dingzhou was changed into Yinzhou, so it belonged to Yinzhou. Daye two years, known as Yulin County, and Madu County belong to Guangzhou. In the ninth year of Zhenguan (635 AD) of Tang Dynasty, it belonged to Guizhou, and in the period of Five Dynasties and Ten Kingdoms, it belonged to Guizhou.
In the fifth year of Kaibao in Song Dynasty, together with huaize County, Yishan County, Chaoshui county and Yuping County, Yulin County belongs to huaize County of Guizhou Province. Huaize county was withdrawn in Yuan Dynasty and returned to Guizhou Province. In the second year of Hongwu in Ming Dynasty, it was demoted to Gui county and belongs to Xunzhou Prefecture. In the Qing Dynasty, it was still called Guixian, which was the capital of Xunzhou in Guangxi Province.
In 1912, Guixian belonged to Xunzhou Prefecture; in 1914, Guixian belonged to cangwudao; in 1932, Guixian belonged to Wuzhou militia district; from 1947 to 1949, Guixian belonged to the ninth administrative supervision district; after the founding of the people's Republic of China, Guixian belonged to Yulin district at first; in July 1951, Guixian belonged to Nanning District; in August of the same year, Guixian belonged to Binyang district. August 1952 belongs to Rongxian district. In July 1958, it belonged to Yulin special area. In 1971, the special district was changed into a district, and GUI county belongs to Yulin district.
In December 1988, Gangbei district was changed into a city along with Guixian county. Gangbei district belongs to Guigang City. In October 1995, it was upgraded to prefecture level city with the approval of the State Council. Gangbei District, Gangnan district and qintang district were newly divided. Gangbei district is a county-level administrative region established along with Guigang City. It was officially established on June 24, 1996.
In 2000, Gangbei district had jurisdiction over 10 towns and 9 townships. On March 6, 2003, the State Council approved that qintang Town, Huanglian Town, Donglong Town, Sanli Town, Wuli Town, Shika Town, menggong Township, Shanbei Township, Guzhang Township, Zhennan Township and Daling Township in Gangbei district should be under the jurisdiction of qintang administrative region. In 2005, Guicheng town was abolished and Guicheng Street was established.
On October 27, 1995, the State Council (Guo Han No. 96) approved the upgrading of Guigang City to a prefecture level city with the establishment of Gangnan district and Gangbei District, and the municipal government stationed in Gangbei district. Gangbei District governs 7 towns of Guicheng, Dawu, shika, Sanli, qintang, Huanglian and Donglong, and 12 townships of Fucheng, Wule, Qingfeng, Genzhu, Zhongli, Qishi, daling, Wuli, menggong, Shanbei, Guzhang and Zhennan in Guigang City. The district government is located in Jiangbin Avenue. The five towns of Dongjin, Qiaowei, Zhanjiang, Muge and Muzi, six townships of Batang, Xintang, Watang, Hengling, Pingyue and Sihuai, as well as Nanjiang village office and musongling neighborhood committee of Guicheng town are under the jurisdiction of Gangnan district.
In 1995, the four townships of Fucheng, Qingfeng, Wuli and Batang were abolished, and four townships of Gangcheng, Qingfeng, Wuli and Batang were set up; Gangbei District actually controlled 10 townships of Guicheng, Dawu, shika, Sanli, qintang, Huanglian, Donglong, Gangcheng, Qingfeng and Wuli, and 9 townships of Wule, Genzhu, Zhongli, Qishi, daling, menggong, Shanbei, Guzhang and Zhennan; Gangnan District actually controlled Dongjin, Qiaowei, Qingfeng and Wuli Six towns of Zhanjiang, Muge, Muzi and Batang, five townships of Xintang, Watang, Hengling, Pingyue and Sihuai, and Nanjiang village office and musongling neighborhood committee of Guicheng town.
On June 18, 1996, the government of the autonomous region approved to put 15 village offices (neighborhood committees) under the jurisdiction of Guicheng Town, including Nanjiang village office and musongling neighborhood committee of Gangnan District, Gaobei and Daxin of Batang Town, Dazheng, Xicun, Zizhi, shanbian, Sanping, Sanan and Chencun of Xintang Township, and Xinlu, Suwan, Xinmeng and Bancun of HENGLING township.
In 1996, Gangbei District covered an area of 2445 square kilometers with a population of about 1.04 million. It has jurisdiction over 10 towns and 9 townships: Guicheng Town, Dawu Town, Shika Town, Sanli Town, Huanglian Town, Gangcheng Town, qintang Town, Donglong Town, Qingfeng town, Wuli Town, Daling Township, Shanbei Township, Zhongli Township, Guzhang Township, Qishi Township, Wule Township, Genzhu Township, Zhennan Township and menggong township. The district government is located in Jiangbin Avenue, Guicheng town.
According to the fifth census in 2000, the total population of Gangbei district is 1020701. On February 28, 2001, the government of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region (GZH No. 26) agreed to put the village committees of musongling, Nanjiang, Sanping, shanbian, Dazheng, Sapium sebiferum, San'an, Xinlu, Xinmeng, Suwan, Gaobei, Daxin, Chencun, Xicun and Bancun in Guicheng town of Gangbei district under the jurisdiction of Gangnan district; the boundary between Gangnan district and Gangbei district is Yujiang.
On March 6, 2003, the State Council (guohan No. 37) approved the transfer of qintang Town, Huanglian Town, Donglong Town, Sanli Town, Wuli Town, Shika Town, menggong Township, Shanbei Township, Guzhang Township, Zhennan Township and Daling Township in Gangbei district to the jurisdiction of the newly established qintang district. After the adjustment, Gangbei district has jurisdiction over four towns and four townships: Guicheng Town, Gangcheng Town, Dawu Town, Qingfeng town, Qishi Town, Zhongli Town, Genzhu town and Wule town.
On July 19, 2005, the government of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region (GZH No. 206) agreed to cancel Guicheng town in Gangbei district and set up a sub district office, with the former administrative region of Guicheng town as the jurisdiction of the sub district office.
