Lushan County, which belongs to Ya'an City, is located in the western edge of Sichuan Basin, northeast of Ya'an City, and upstream of Qingyi River. It is a county seriously affected by the 5.12 Wenchuan earthquake and 4.20 Lushan earthquake. Covering an area of 1364.42 square kilometers, the county governs 46 villages (communities) and 256 villager groups in 5 towns and 4 townships. By the end of 2014, the permanent resident population was 119500, including 78600 rural residents and 40900 urban residents.
On July 29, 2020, the National Patriotic Health Association decided to name Lushan County as a national health county in the period of 2017-2019.
Historical evolution
As far back as the Neolithic age, there were clans in Lushan County who lived and multiplied here, engaged in hunting and farming.
Xia was the territory of Liangzhou, Shang was Diqiang, Zhou was Yongzhou, and later was Qingyi Qiang (or Shu).
Since its establishment in 316 BC, the name of the county has gone through Qingyi, Hanjia and Yangjia. In the late Warring States period, Emperor Huiwen of Qin Dynasty was replaced by Han Jia, Shi Yang, Lu Shan, Lu Shan and Lu Shan. Luyang town was ruled by Duwei in the west, Duwei of Shu County, Hanjia county and county. It was also the center of Sichuan kangbian revolutionary base established by the Red Army. It has a history of more than 2300 years.
Lushan, from Qingyi road in Qin Dynasty to Yangjia County in Shuhan Dynasty, covers the whole territory of Lushan County and parts of Baoxing, Qionglai, Mingshan, Ya'an and tianlushan counties (cities).
In the Tang, song and Yuan Dynasties, the county included Lingguan in Baoxing County, Huojing in Qionglai City, tangwangba and baishangang in Dayi County.
In 1520, tianquanyang and gaotusi occupied Louguan and Taiping mountain area, and their jurisdiction was reduced to the south of lingjiu mountain.
After liberation, in January 1951, Taiping mountain area was assigned to Lushan County, and the situation has not changed.

The rivers in Lushan County belong to the Minjiang River system of the Yangtze River Basin. There are 556 large and small rivers flowing into the Qingyi River. There are 11 rivers with a drainage area of more than 30km2, including 4 rivers with a drainage area of 30-50km2, 2 rivers with a drainage area of 50-100km2, 3 rivers with a drainage area of 100-500km2, 2 rivers with a drainage area of more than 500km2 and 545 rivers with a drainage area of less than 30km2.
