Ziliujing District Ziliujing district is located in the Central District of Zigong, Sichuan Province. It is the political, economic and cultural center of the city, and the seat of the municipal Party, government and military organs. It is located in the shallow hilly area in the south of Sichuan Basin, in the Middle East of Zigong City, adjacent to Weiping street, Xinglong Town and Yong'an town of Yantan District in the East, Fuquan town of Yantan District, Lianhua town of Gongjing district and Xuzhou District of Yibin City in the south, Changtu street, Jianshe town and Qiaotou town of Gongjing District in the west, and Fenghuang street and Heping Street of Da'an District in the north. By the end of 2019, the total area of the region is 154.99 square kilometers, with jurisdiction over 9 streets and 3 towns. At the end of the year, the population was 366900.

Historical evolution

Ziliujing district originally belonged to Fushun County. In 1939, the Fifth District of Fushun County was set up as Zigong City because of salt. Tonglong and Changqiu are today's Ziliujing district. In 1942, tonglong town was changed to Zijing town. In 1944, the town was changed into District, Zijing town into the first district, Changqiu town into the Second District, until the liberation of Zigong City.

In March 1950, the first and second districts were merged into one district.

In 1953, it was named Ziliujing District, and its four townships, Hongqi, Yongsheng, Shiping and Jianguo, were merged into two townships, Hongqi and Yongsheng. In June, the two townships were divided into suburbs, and Ziliujing District became a pure urban area.

In January 1957, Da'an district was merged into Ziliujing District, and in 1960, the two districts were separated.

In June 1960, Heping, Fenghuang and Hongqi communes were successively assigned to Ziliujing district.

In July 1979, Heping, Fenghuang and Hongqi commune were assigned to Da'an District, and Ziliujing District became Chuncheng district again.

On August 1, 2005, Zhongquan Town, rongbian Town, Gaofeng Township, Shuping Town, nongtuan Township, Qishu Township and Hongqi Township were under the jurisdiction of Ziliujing District, ending the history of Chuncheng city.

On August 9, 2005, Zigong municipal Party committee and Zigong Municipal People's government decided that after the implementation of the new administrative division, the government of Ziliujing district will entrust Hongqi Township under its jurisdiction to the Management Committee of high tech Zone.

On May 21, 2006, with the approval of Zigong Municipal People's government, Dangui Street office and Xueyuan Street office were set up in Ziliujing District, and it was made clear that the two street offices were entrusted by the people's Government of Ziliujing district to the high tech Zone.

On December 1, 2012, according to the decision of Zigong Municipal People's government, Ziliujing District entrusted Gaofeng township as a whole to the Management Committee of high tech Zone.

In September, 2019, according to the reply [2019] No. 6 of Chuanfu civil affairs, the rural League Township and Qishu Township were abolished and feilongxia town was established; Hongqi township was abolished and Hongqi Street was established by yanggongqiao village, Weiping Town, Yantan District, Donghu, Zijing and yanggongqiao communities and the remaining area of Hongqi township; Gaofeng town was abolished and Gaofeng street was established; Shuping town was abolished and Shuping street was established.

There are 5 reservoir wetlands, namely, Jianshan No.1 reservoir in rongbian Town, Jianshan No.2 reservoir in rongbian Town, baozigou reservoir in Zhongquan Town, Huangjia reservoir in Zhongquan town and Feixiang reservoir in yuannongtuan township Longxia reservoir and feilongxia reservoir are new wetland patches with a total area of 166.85 hectares. The dominant species of wetland plants are Eichhornia crassipes, Alternanthera philoxeroides, Elaeagnus macrocephala, Phragmites australis, water lily, lotus, Channa Argus, duckweed, etc.

Transportation

Ziliujing district is an important part of the main urban area of Zigong City and the seat of the municipal government. The national highway g85, Yinchuan Kunming Expressway and Neijiang Kunming railway are in transit, and the traffic is very convenient.

Zigong has a convenient transportation network of roads, railways, aviation and waterways. Railway access to the whole country, through the Neikun Railway can directly reach southeast Asian countries. Zigong is 269km away from Chengdu, which can be reached by train (5 hours) or by car (3 hours). From Chongqing to the distance is not much, also through the train or car, express 5 hours.
