Huadu District is located in the central part of Guangdong Province, the north of Pearl River Delta, the north of Guangzhou City, Conghua District in the East, Baiyun District in the south, Sanshui District and Nanhai District of Foshan City in the west, and Qingcheng District of Qingyuan City in the north. Historical evolution
Huadu District was originally a Huaxian and Huadu District. It was under the jurisdiction of Panyu County in the Han Dynasty, Nanhai County in the Sui Dynasty, and Panyu and Nanhai after the Song Dynasty. In the 25th year of the reign of Emperor Kangxi of the Qing Dynasty (1686 AD), Nanhai and Panyu counties were divided into counties. Because the county is located in Huashan, the new county is named "Hua", which belongs to Guangzhou government.
In 1914, Huaxian belonged to yuehaidao.
In the ninth year of the Republic of China, Guangdong Province was directly under the central government. In December 1958, Renhe commune, Taihe commune, Zhuliao commune and Zhongluotan commune, which originally belonged to the suburbs of Guangzhou, merged with Huaxian county to establish Guangbei County, which was under the jurisdiction of Guangzhou city. In March of the next year, Guangbei county was abolished and Huaxian county was zoned back to Foshan.
On April 20, 1960, Huaxian county was designated as Guangzhou city from Foshan.
On June 18, 1993, the State Council approved the establishment of a city from a county, and named it "Huadu" (a county-level city). It was directly under the central government of Guangdong Province and entrusted to Guangzhou city. The administrative division of Yuanhua county was the administrative division of Huadu. On August 19, 1999, the people's Government of Guangdong Province approved the establishment of Huaqiao town in Huadu City (retain the brand of Huaqiao farm).
On May 21, 2000, the State Council approved the abolition of Huadu and the establishment of Huadu District in Guangzhou, with its administrative divisions unchanged. On December 25 of the same year, the CPC Huadu District Committee and Huadu District People's government moved from No. 1 Jianshe Road, Xinhua Town to the new district government office building on Xindu Avenue (now Yingbin Avenue).
In April 2014, Guangzhou Baiyun Airport comprehensive bonded zone (phase I), the first comprehensive bonded zone in Guangdong Province approved by the State Council, officially passed the national acceptance.
On January 6, 2016, the executive meeting of the State Council deliberated and decided to expand the pilot of cross-border e-commerce comprehensive pilot zone, and Guangzhou became the second batch of cities of China's cross-border e-commerce comprehensive pilot zone.
In November 2016, the national market procurement trade pilot settled in Guangzhou Huadu.

On June 23, 2017, Huadu was approved as one of the five national green finance reform and innovation pilot zones, and the only national green finance reform and innovation pilot zone in South China.

Since 1993, Huadu has nine towns: Xinhua Town, Huashan Town, Huadong Town, Shiling Town, ChinI Town, Tanbu Town, Beixing Town, Timian town and Furong Town. In 2011, Huadu District governed Xinhua sub district office and 7 towns including Huadong Town, Huashan Town, Timian Town, Shiling Town, ChinI Town, Tanbu town and Yayao Town, with a total of 188 villagers' committees, including 24 Xinhua Street, 45 Huadong Town, 26 Huashan Town, 8 Timian Town, 23 Shiling Town, 30 ChinI Town, 27 Tanbu town and 5 Yayao town. There are 50 community neighborhood committees in the District, including 38 in Xinhua Street, 4 in Huadong Town, 2 in Shiling Town and 2 in ChinI Town, and 1 in the other 4 towns. On January 8, 2014, three new streets in Huadu District, Xinya street, Xiuquan street and Huacheng street, were officially listed and Yayao town was cancelled. It is declared that the administrative division of Huadu has changed from "one street and seven towns" to "four streets and six towns".
