Guidong County Guidong County, subordinate to Chenzhou City, Hunan Province, is located in the southeast of Hunan Province, in the middle of Luoxiao mountains, upstream of Leishui, a tributary of Xiangjiang River. It is adjacent to Shangyou County, Chongyi county and Suichuan County of Jiangxi Province in the East, Rucheng County in the south, Zixing City in the West and Yanling County of Zhuzhou City in the northwest. With a total area of 1451.56 square kilometers, Guidong County governs 11 towns, 1 National Nature Reserve and 1 National Forest Park. Guidong county is a kind of old revolutionary base area. It is the birthplace of the party's mass line, the promulgation of the eight points of attention to the three major disciplines, and the first place of the workers' and peasants' Red Army in the long march. Historical evolution
Before the Zhou Dynasty, Guidong belonged to Jingzhou; during the spring and Autumn period and Warring States period, it belonged to Chu; during the Qin Dynasty, Guidong belonged to Chen County, Changsha County; during the Han Dynasty, it belonged to Hanning County, Guiyang County; during the Three Kingdoms, it belonged to Yang'an County.
In the Western Jin Dynasty, it belongs to Jinning County; in the second year of emperor Mu's Shengping (358) in the Eastern Jin Dynasty, Jinning County was located in Rucheng County, which belongs to Guidong County.
The southern and Northern Dynasties and the Sui Dynasty belong to Luyang county.
In the first year of Tang Zhenguan (627), Luyang county was changed into Yichang county.
In 925, Yichang county was changed to Chenyi county.
In 976, Taizong of the Song Dynasty changed Chenyi County into Guiyang County (today's Rucheng County) to avoid Taizong's taboo. In 1211, Yicheng and Lingling townships of Guiyang County were set up in Guidong County, and Shangyou Village (today's Zhaiqian township) was set up in the county, which was subordinate to Chenzhou army of Hunan Road.
In 1276, Guidong County was subordinate to the Chenzhou pacification Department of Huguang xingzhongshu province; in 1277, the Chenzhou pacification department was changed to Chenzhou Road, and Guidong County was subordinate.
In the first year of Hongwu (1368) of Ming Dynasty, the county was transferred to the front of Fenghuang Mountain in the upper reaches of Tujiang River in Yicheng (now Chengguan town), belonging to Chenzhou Prefecture; in the ninth year of Hongwu (1376), Chenzhou Prefecture was changed to Zhili Chenzhou.
In 1678, Wu Sangui called himself Emperor Hengzhou and changed Guidong county to Pingyang County to avoid taboo. In February 1679, he renamed Guidong County.
In the first year of the Republic of China (1912), Guidong belonged to Hengyong Chengui road of Hunan Province; in the third year of the Republic of China (1914), it belonged to Hengyang road; in the twenty sixth year of the Republic of China (1937), it belonged to the eighth administrative supervision district of Hunan Province; in the twenty ninth year of the Republic of China (1940), it belonged to the third administrative supervision district of Hunan Province.
At the beginning of the founding of the people's Republic of China, Guidong belonged to Hengyang special district; in November 1949, it belonged to Chen County special district; in November 1952, it belonged to Xiangnan administrative region; in 1954, it belonged to Chen County special district; in November 1958, Guidong County and Rucheng County merged into Rugui County, and the county government established the present Rucheng Chengguan; in May 1961, Rugui county was divided into counties, and Guidong County was restored.
