Linwu County Linwu County, subordinate to Chenzhou City, Hunan Province, is located in the southernmost part of Hunan Province, at the northern foot of the eastern part of Nanling Mountains. It is adjacent to Yizhang County in the East and Southeast, Lianzhou City in Guangdong Province in the south, Lanshan County in the southwest, Jiahe County in the northwest, Guiyang County in the north, and Beihu District in the northeast. Linwu is one of the counties with the longest history in southern Hunan. Linwu was established in the Warring States period, and the county was established in the fifth year of emperor Gaozu of Han Dynasty (202 BC). The county covers an area of 1383.06 square kilometers with a total population of 394600.
Linwu is rich in mineral resources. There are 32 kinds of minerals in 9 categories, among which tin reserves rank the fourth in China and the first in the whole province. It has the reputation of "small town of nonferrous metals" and "town of coal". The main scenic spots are Linwu 36 Bay, Xiuyan Fengyue garden, jinxianzhai tourist area, Shimen Longdong, Xiyao Green Valley National Forest Park, etc. Linwu local specialties are Linwu pomelo, Dachong pepper, taro, red heart peach, black plum, etc. On January 25, 2019, Linwu county was selected as the national "safe agricultural machinery" Demonstration County in 2018. On December 6, 2019, it was selected as the pilot unit of promoting the quality improvement of farmers' cooperatives in the whole county.
In July 2020, the National Patriotic Health Association decided to name Linwu County as the national health county for the period of 2017-2019. On January 29, 2021, it was selected into the list of areas that have achieved remarkable results in the year of 2020 announced by the people's Government of Hunan Province (the "three noes" in the province's petition work have been created to meet the standard of counties and cities).
Evolution of organizational system
Linwu belonged to Chu in ancient times, and Linwu was set up in the Warring States period.
In the fifth year of emperor Gaozu of the Han Dynasty (202 BC), the county was established. According to shuijingzhu, the county is located in the east of Wuxi, which is called Linwu county. According to historical records, "the most ancient city in southern Chu is Linwu."
In the first year of the founding of the people's Republic of China (AD 9), it was renamed Dawu. In the first year of Jianwu in the Eastern Han Dynasty (25), it was called Linwu again.
Sui kaihuang nine years (589), Nanping (now Lanshan county) into Linwu. In the second year of Tang Xianheng (671), Nanping was separated from Linwu. In the first year of Ruyi (692), Empress Wu changed her name to Longwu. In the first year of emperor Zhongzong of Tang Dynasty (705), it was renamed Linwu.
In the fourth year of Tianfu in the Late Jin Dynasty (939), Linwu was incorporated into Guiyang prison, and in the eleventh year of Shaoxing in the Southern Song Dynasty (1141), Linwu county was restored. In the 12th year of Chongzhen in the Ming Dynasty (1639), Linwu and Guiyang were divided into two parts, and Jiahe County was established.
On December 1, 1949, Linwu was liberated, belonging to the special office of Chen county. In November 1952, the special office of Chen county was withdrawn and the southern Hunan administrative office was set up. Linwu was subordinate to the southern Hunan administrative office. In July 1954, the Xiangnan administrative office was abolished, and Linwu returned to the jurisdiction of Chen County special office.
In March 1959, Linwu was incorporated into Yizhang. In July 1961, Linwu County resumed its organizational system and was subordinate to Chenzhou administrative office.
In March 1979, Chenzhou administrative office changed its name to Chenzhou Prefecture of Hunan Province, and Chenzhou City was established on December 17, 1994. The subordinate relationship of Linwu remained unchanged.
In 1996, Linwu County covers an area of 1393 square kilometers and has a population of about 303000. Topography
The lowest point of Linwu county is located at the exit of Wushui River (wutangchong river bed opposite to the cement plant), with an average sea level of 203 meters; the average sea level of the county is 276 meters. The terrain is high in the northwest and low in the southeast, with Dongshan, Xishan and taozhushan as the skeleton, and tilts southeast like a dustpan. The main geomorphic types are mountain, hill and plain, accounting for 59.43%, 29.27% and 9.51% respectively.
Linwu county has Tongtian temple and Tongbai two mountains. Tongtian temple is located in Xianghualing Town, Linwu County, with an altitude of 1594m and a radius of about 100km2. Tongbai mountain, namely Xishan Mountain, is located in wenchangping, Xishan Forest Farm, southwest of Linwu county. It is the watershed between Xiangshui river system and Zhujiang River system. Tiantouling, the main peak, is 1712 meters above sea level.

The Xihe River in Linwu county runs in the direction of Xishan and Dongshan. The Wushui River in the South flows from west to East and belongs to the Pearl River system. The houzijiang River and Wulihe River in the North flows from south to North and belongs to the Xiangjiang River system.
The first grade tributary of the Beijiang River System in the Pearl River Basin of the Wujiang River system originates from sanfengling in Linwu county and flows into Guangdong Province through luojiadu in Yizhang County. Chenzhou City has a rainwater collecting area of 3365.7 square kilometers and a main stream of 147 kilometers long, with an average gradient of 1.49 ‰. Among them, nanhuaxi (leshui River), a secondary tributary of Beijiang River system, originates from Yangzikeng, Yizhang County and flows into Wushui at Shuikou, Guangdong Province, with a drainage area of 1223 square kilometers, a main stream of 115 kilometers long, an average riverbed gradient of 3.28 ‰, and a rainfall collection area of 1026 square kilometers in Yizhang County.
