Wulingyuan District Wulingyuan District, belonging to Zhangjiajie City, Hunan Province, is located in the middle of Zhangjiajie City and the middle and upper reaches of Lishui river. It belongs to Wuling mountain range, between 110 ° 22 ′ 30 ″ - 110 ° 41 ′ 15 ″ e longitude and 29 ° 16 ′ 25 ″ - 29 ° 24 ′ 25 ″ N latitude, with a total area of 397.58 square kilometers, 32 kilometers away from Zhangjiajie City.
Wulingyuan District is a county-level administrative region approved by the State Council in May 1988. The core scenic spot of Zhangjiajie City is in Wulingyuan District. Wulingyuan is known as "the spiritual realm of Yudian" and "the Olympic District of chixian" in historical books. Wang Wei, a poet of Tang Dynasty, left a poem that "people live in Wulingyuan together, but they also start from the countryside". In 1984, when Hu Yaobang, then general secretary of the CPC Central Committee, visited the site, he named Zhangjiajie, SUOXIYU and Tianzishan as Wulingyuan. Therefore, it is also called Wulingyuan scenic spot, which is composed of Zhangjiajie National Forest Park, Tianzishan nature reserve, SUOXIYU nature reserve and yangjiajie nature reserve.
By the end of 2018, Wulingyuan district had 4 streets and 2 townships, 55892 registered residence population, and realized 5 billion 973 million 280 thousand yuan of gross domestic product (GDP). Zhou belongs to the state of Chu. King Cheng of Zhou granted Xiong Yi the title of Chu and lived in Danyang (now Zigui County, Hubei Province), with Cili (including Yongding District, Wulingyuan District and Sangzhi County) as its jurisdiction. In the 37th year of King Nan (278 BC), King Zhao of Qin set up Qianzhong county (the county was in the west of Yuanling County today) and governed Cili. Wulingyuan is under the jurisdiction of Cili.
In the 26th year of the first emperor of Qin Dynasty (221 BC), it was divided into 36 counties. In Qianzhong County, Cigu county (county governor taping, today's Cili County Jiangjiaping Township Taiping Village) is under the jurisdiction of Jin'an Township, Li County, Jinshi County, linli County, Shimen County, Cili County, Sangzhi County and Yongding District, Wulingyuan District, Hubei Province public security, Hefeng County, Hunan Province Taoyuan County.
In the fifth year of emperor Gaozu of the Han Dynasty (202 BC), Wuling county was established by abolishing Qianzhong County, and Cigu county was divided into three counties: Lingyang County, Fuling county and Chongxian county. At this time, Wulingyuan area was under the jurisdiction of Chong county (the county governs today's Yongding District, which governs today's Yongding District, Sangzhi County and midstream area).
In the sixth year of Yong'an (263) of Emperor Wu Jing of the Three Kingdoms, because of the crack of Songliang mountain and the stone wall standing like a door, Emperor Wu's grandson Xiu thought it was auspicious. Therefore, it was analyzed that Tianmen county was set up in the north of Wuling County, and louzhong County was set up in Lingyang county and Chongxian county. At this time, Wulingyuan was under the jurisdiction of Chong county and louzhong county.
In the first year of emperor Taikang (280), linli County was established in louzhong county and Liyang County in Lingyang county. Tianmen county leads the five counties of Lingyang, Chongxian, Linli, louzhong and Liyang.
In the southern and Northern Dynasties, Emperor Liang Jingdi abolished Tianmen county and established Lizhou and Shimen County in the first year of shaotai (555). In 575, louzhong and linli counties were abolished and Hengzhou was established. Abandoned Chong county, Chongyi County, the territory and zero Yang are subordinate to North Hengzhou.
In 598, Emperor Wen of the Sui Dynasty changed northern Hengzhou to Chongzhou, and changed Lingling county to Cili County, which was subordinate to Chongzhou with Chongyi county. In 607, Chongzhou was abolished and Lizhou was changed into Liyang County, with lingshimen, Fuling, Liyang, Anxiang, Chongyi and Cili counties.
In the second year of Wude, Emperor Gaozu of Tang Dynasty (619), Liyang county was changed into Lizhou and Chongxian county was restored. In the first year of Gao Zonglin's reign (664), Chong county was abolished and Chongyi was transferred to Cili County. At the beginning of Tianbao, Xuanzong changed Lizhou into Liyang county. Suzong Qianyuan first year (758), renamed Lizhou.
During the Five Dynasties (907-960), namely, the periods of the Later Liang, the later Tang, the later Jin, the later Han and the Later Zhou (907-960), the area was under the jurisdiction of Lizhou, the state of Chu under the separate rule of Ma Yin and Zhou Xing Feng.
In the first year of Qiande (963), Taizu of Song Dynasty changed Lizhou into Liyang Junzhou, belonging to Jinghu North Road.
In 1275, Liyang Junzhou was upgraded to Lizhou road. In the 14th year of the Zhiyuan Dynasty (1277), it was changed to the office of the general manager of Lizhou road and led the four counties of Liyang, Shimen, Anxiang and Cili. In the first year of Yuanzhen (1295), Cili County was upgraded to Cigu Prefecture and renamed Cili Prefecture. It governs Cili, Sangzhi, Yongding, Wulingyuan and other districts and counties. In 1364, Zhu Yuanzhang, the king of Wu, changed Lizhou road to Liyang mansion.
In the second year of Hongwu (1369) of Ming Dynasty, Cili Prefecture was demoted to Dayong county. Soon Dayong county was abolished, and Cili County was renamed as Liyang Prefecture. Hongwu three years (1370), Yangshan Weizhi (now Yongshun Yangfeng mountain) moved to Dayong, renamed Dayong Wei (now Dayong Institute). The following year, Dayong Weicheng moved to Yongding District. Hongwu nine years (1376), change Li belong to Cili County, subordinate to Changde. Hongwu 22 years (1389), Dayong Wei Yongding Wei, jurisdiction of six (before, after, left, right, middle and Dayong), the administrative region is Cili County. In 1396, jiuxiwei was set up, which is located in Jiangya, Cili County. It led the front, back, left, right and middle five stations, and Tianping, Maliao and Anfu stations. In 1396, Cili was transferred to Yuezhou Prefecture.
In 1730 (the eighth year of Yongzheng reign of the Qing Dynasty), the land was changed to Liugui, Lizhou was upgraded to Zhili, and Cili County was changed to Lizhou. Gemaliao Institute (part of Cili's seventeen capitals and eighteen capitals) was established in Rongmei Prefecture, Hefeng Prefecture and Yichang Prefecture, while geanfu Institute (Cili's sixteen capitals) was established in Sangzhi County and Yongshun Prefecture. In the third year of the Republic of China (1914), the system of government, prefecture and department was abolished, and the system of Dao was retained. Because Yongding County has the same name as Yongding County in Fujian Province, it was renamed Dayong County by the order of Beijing government, which belongs to Wuling road with Cili. In 1935, the Department of appeasement in Western Hunan was established, with five administrative supervision districts. Among them, the Commissioner's office of cishiyong district has set up Cili, which governs Cili, Shimen and Dayong counties. The following year, cishiyong administrative supervision district was expanded into the second administrative supervision district, with jurisdiction over Cili, Shimen, Dayong, Linli, Lixian and Sangzhi. The office of the Commissioner is still located in Cili. From 1938 to 1940, Cili County was the fourth administrative supervision district of Hunan Province (the office of the commissioner was set up in Changde) and Dayong county was the eighth administrative supervision district (the office of the commissioner was set up in Yongshun).
In October 1949, the people's Republic of China was founded. By December 1988, state-owned Zhangjiajie Forest Farm (now Zhangjiajie National Forest Park Management Office, the same below), Xiehe Township and Zhonghu Township were under the jurisdiction of Dayong county (city) of Xiangxi Autonomous Prefecture (now Yongding District), SUOXIYU town was under the jurisdiction of Cili County of Changde District, and Tianzishan town was under the jurisdiction of Sangzhi County (Dayong County in 1953, Cili County later, Sangzhi County in 1958). In 1996, Wulingyuan District covers an area of 393 square kilometers, with jurisdiction over one town, two townships and one ethnic township: Tianzishan Town, SUOXIYU Tujia Township, Zhonghu Township and Xiehe township. The district government is located in SUOXIYU, 43 kilometers away from the municipal government.
By the end of 2002, Wulingyuan District had a total area of 397.5 square kilometers, of which the core scenic area was 217.15 square kilometers. It has jurisdiction over 3 townships, 1 town, 2 streets, 42 administrative villages and neighborhood committees.
