Historical evolution
Pre Qin Period
About 8000 years ago, the ancestors of Yanling County began to multiply. At the beginning of the Zhou Dynasty, after King Wu of the Zhou Dynasty conquered the Yin Dynasty, he granted the fourth son of Lu Zhong the title of "Qiu Yan" to Ying (now Zhengzhou) and Yan, so it was named Yan state.
Spring and Autumn period and Warring States Period
Spring and autumn belong to Zheng. In 770 B.C., Duke Wu of Zheng destroyed Yan, abandoned Yan state as Yan city and changed it into Yan mausoleum. Because the city was built on a north-south earth mausoleum, it was named Yan mausoleum.
In 575 B.C. (11th year of King Jian of Zhou Dynasty), in order to fight for the hegemony of the Central Plains, Jin and Chu fought in Yanling (now Yanling County, Henan Province). In the war, the Jin army was good at observing fighters and skillfully commanding, defeated the state of Chu, who had been fighting for hegemony in the Central Plains for a long time, and further consolidated its dominant position in the Central Plains. The battle of Yanling is one of the classic battles in the spring and Autumn period and Warring States period. After the war, Jin and Chu gradually lost the powerful momentum of fighting for hegemony in the Central Plains by force, and the battlefield in the Central Plains began to silence.
During the Warring States period, Yanling belonged to both Han and Wei. In 375 BC, Han AI Hou destroyed Zheng and Yan was incorporated into Han. In 365 BC, King Hui of Wei moved his capital from Anyi of Shanxi to Daliang (now Kaifeng). Wei was strong and Han was weak, so Yanling belonged to Wei.
