Yuhu District Yuhu District belongs to Xiangtan City, Hunan Province. It is one of the two urban areas of Xiangtan City, located on the Bank of Xiangjiang River in the middle of Hunan Province. Yuhu District is named after the thousand year old scenic spot "Yuhu". It is the center of Commerce, science, education and culture in Xiangtan, the key area of "two oriented" social construction in Changsha Zhuzhou Xiangtan Urban Agglomeration and the Pioneer Area of "two oriented" social construction in Xiangtan.

Yuhu District is the birthplace of Xiangtan City, where Xiangtan county government moved in Song Dynasty. Because it is close to the Xiangjiang River, the water and land transportation is developed; in Yuhu District, there are 56 cultural relics scenic spots, including wanlou, Confucian temple, Guansheng hall, Luban hall, tangxing temple, Qiujin's former residence, and 10 provincial and municipal key cultural relics protection units. On January 29, 2021, Hunan Provincial People's government announced that it was a county or city with remarkable achievements in promoting high-quality development and was awarded a standard reward of 1 million yuan.
Historical evolution
During the Shang and Zhou dynasties, the area was Jingchu, and the influence of Yue culture was great.
In the late Warring States period, Chu divided Changsha County from Qianzhong County, and the whole Yuhu District belonged to Changsha County.
The Qin Dynasty unified China, and the county still belonged to the state.
In the Western Han Dynasty, Liu Bang made Wu Rui king of Changsha, and then Liu Fa king of Changsha.
At the beginning of the Eastern Han Dynasty, Xiangxiang county was built, which was divided into Lingling county and Changsha County. In the 20th year of Jian'an (216), Shu and Wu divided their sphere of influence, Lingling County belonged to Shu, Changsha County belonged to Wu; in the 24th year of Jian'an (220), Wu attacked Jingzhou, and the territory then belonged to Wu Hengyang County. The county was governed in the ancient town of Xiangtan County.
Jin, district territory is Hengyang County, county governance is still in the ancient town of Xiangtan County. When the Eastern Jin Dynasty separated Xiangzhou from Jingzhou, it belonged to Xiangzhou.
During the southern and Northern Dynasties, the area was under the jurisdiction of the Southern Dynasties and belonged to Hengyang County of Xiangzhou.
Sui Dynasty, the district is located in Changsha County, Tanzhou. In 749, a new Xiangtan County was established from the north of Xiangtan and Hengshan counties in Sui Dynasty, and the county government was moved to Luokou (now Yisuhe town).
During the Five Dynasties, the area was the territory of Chu state established by MA in the south, and was subordinate to Changsha Prefecture of Tan Prefecture.
In Song Dynasty, the area belongs to Tanzhou, Jinghu South Road. In the Southern Song Dynasty, Xiangtan County has been moved to Chengzheng street of Xiangtan City, where economy and culture have developed.
Ming Dynasty, the district belongs to Tanzhou.
In the Qing Dynasty, the district belonged to Changsha Prefecture.
In the third year of the Republic of China (1914), it belonged to Xiangjiang Road.
On August 9 and 10, 1949, Xiangtan and Xiangxiang were peacefully liberated, and Xiangtan County People's government was established on August 22.
In July 1950, Chengguan District of Xiangtan County was changed into Xiangtan city at the county level, under the Changsha special office, which moved from Yueyang to Xiangtan.
In June 1983, the local and municipal organizations of Xiangtan were merged. Xiangtan City has jurisdiction over two counties of Xiangtan and Xiangxiang, and five districts of Yuhu, Xiangjiang, Yuetang, Bantang and suburbs.
In June 1992, the Ministry of Civil Affairs gave an official reply (No. 64 of the people's Bank of China) to abolish the Yuhu District, Xiangjiang District, Yuetang District, Bantang district and suburbs of Xiangtan City, and set up Yuhu District and Yuetang district with Xiangjiang River as the boundary.
In 2009, with the approval of Xiangtan Municipal government, Xiangshui township of Xiangtan County was assigned to Yuhu District and entrusted by Jiuhua demonstration zone.
In 2010, Xiangtang Township and jiangshe town of Xiangtan County were put into Yuhu District.

In 2010, Xiangtang Township and jiangshe town of Xiangtan County were put under the jurisdiction of Yuhu District. The number of village (neighborhood) committees, the area of administrative region, the total population and the government's residence in Xiangtang Township and jiangshe town remained unchanged. After the adjustment of administrative divisions, Yuhu District has jurisdiction over 8 streets, 3 towns and 6 townships.
In 2013, Xiangtang Township in Yuhu District was abolished and Xiangtang town was established. The former administrative region of Xiangtang township was the new administrative region of Xiangtang town. After the adjustment of administrative divisions, Xiangtang town governs agricultural science, Xiangtang, Yangmei, Chang'an, Chaishan, Dawu, Shalin, Yicao, Xiaoquan, houquan, Jinpan, Shuanghu, Hehua, Xiajin, Renxing, Shiquan, Rixin, Sima, Baichong, Houtian, Huxing, Castanopsis, Liangshan, Yaojia, Changlong, nangu, Yijia, Jinqiao, Yunxiu, Shuijing, Jinhu, guhu, Fangshi, Shanjie and Chenpu There are 41 established villages, including Xiaojing, Yanshan, Baihe, Gonghe, Beitou and Fangzhu, and the neighborhood committee of guitou town. In 2013, the three townships of zhaotan, Xianfeng and Hutan in Yuhu District were abolished, and three streets of zhaotan, Xianfeng and wanlou were established. The administrative area of the former zhaotan township was the jurisdiction of the new zhaotan street, the administrative area of the former Xianfeng township was the jurisdiction of the new Xianfeng street, and the administrative area of the former Hutan township was the jurisdiction of the new wanlou street.
