Chibi Chibi is a county-level city under the administration of Xianning City. It is located in the southeast of Hubei Province and on the South Bank of the middle reaches of the Yangtze River. It is the contact zone between Mufu hills and Jianghan Plain. The geographical coordinates of Chibi City are 113 ° 32 ′ ~ 114 ° 13 ′ E and 29 ° 28 ′ ~ 29 ° 55 ′ n. Chibi, formerly known as Puqi, originated from the setting up of Puqi County in the second year of Huangwu in the eastern Wu Dynasty of the Three Kingdoms. It got its name because the lake was rich in dandelion (materials for weaving Futon in ancient times) and formed a market. In May 1986, with the approval of the State Council, Puqi county was replaced by Xianning City. In June 1998, it was renamed Chibi City.
Chibi has 15 towns, 4 streets and 2 state-owned forest and tea farms. The city's East-West length is 68.9 km, the north and south is the most wide and the narrowest part is 60 km, 26 km, the total area is 1723 square kilometers, and the registered residence population is 534 thousand and 500 in 2016. In November 2018, it was listed in the "2018 list of China's 100 happy counties". It is a pilot county of national intellectual property project. The annual GDP of Chibi City is 42.441 billion yuan in 2018.

Historical evolution
Chibi is a territory of gushaxian county. In 223, the second year of Wu Huangwu in the Three Kingdoms, Sun Quan, king of Wu, set up Puqi Lake (now Xiliang Lake) and got its name. "Pu" is Pucao, and "Qi" is the shore, which means it is located by Pucao lake. "Puqi county annals" written by Kangxi of Qing Dynasty states: "there is Puqi Lake in Shaxian, so it is named after the dandelion produced in the lake." According to the biography of Wu Zhi Lu Dai, "Sun Quan divided Wuchang into two parts, the right part of Dai Du, from Wuchang to Puqi.".
At the beginning of the founding of the county, Puqi county had a large jurisdiction, including Jiayu County, Puqi County, Chongyang County and Tongcheng county. In 742, Tang Tianbao county was divided into tangnian county (Chongyang County and Tongcheng County today), and in 953, wubaoda county was divided into Jiayu county. According to the general annals of Hubei written by Jiaqing of Qing Dynasty, "Puqi county has a clear stream of chunchuan, a beautiful trace of Longtan, mountains and rivers in preparation, and great characters.". It is also called chunchuan.
