Luotian County Luotian County, a county under the jurisdiction of Huanggang City, Hubei Province, is located in Central China, the northeast of Hubei Province, and the south foot of the Dabie Mountains. It is mountainous, and the terrain inclines from northeast to southwest, belonging to the north subtropical monsoon climate zone. With a total area of 2144 square kilometers, it governs 10 towns and 2 townships, with a permanent resident population of 552700 in 2018.
Luotian County is one of the earliest areas in Eastern Hubei where the Communist Party of China was founded. More than 100000 people joined the army and took part in the war, and 30000 Luotian heroes and heroines gave their precious lives for the founding of new China. During the spring and Autumn period and the Warring States period, it belonged to Chu state, and Jiuzihe town was once set up in Jiuzi county.
In the Western Han Dynasty, it was the Marquis state of Songzi. In the Eastern Han Dynasty, it was the Marquis state of Qichun, belonging to Jiangxia county.
In the Three Kingdoms period, Wei was subordinate to Anfeng County of Yuzhou, and Wu was subordinate to Qichun County of Yangzhou.
In the Western Jin Dynasty, Gaoling county first belonged to Wuchang County, and then Anfeng County of Yuzhou. In the Eastern Jin Dynasty, Anfeng county was subordinate to Yiyang County of Yuzhou.
In the northern and Southern Dynasties, Liu Song was subordinate to Yiyang County of Yuzhou in the early years of the Song Dynasty, and later divided into Dong'an, Yi'an, Zhishui and other Manxian counties, which belonged to Xiyang County of Yingzhou. Later, it was changed to Yi'an County, which was subordinate to Qi'an County of Yingzhou. In June of the fourth year of emperor Liang Wu's reign (523), Luotian County was established and attached to Yicheng County. The county was governed by Kuishan near Shiqiaopu. According to Wang Baoxin, a local chronicler, the name of "Luotian" came from the placement of the Tian family, a giant bashui man family, in Luozhou (Luotian belonged to Luozhou at that time).
In the Sui Dynasty, Luotian was changed to Qichun county.
In the Tang Dynasty, Luotian County was merged into Lanxi County, belonging to Qichun County in Huainan.
In the Five Dynasties, it was located in Qishui county. At first, it belonged to Yang Wu, then to the Southern Tang Dynasty, and then to the Later Zhou Dynasty.
In Song Dynasty, it belongs to Qichun county. Shiqiao Town of Qishui county was designated in 1093, and Luotian County was established. The county government was still in Kuishan. In 1265, Zhihe Township in the east of the county was designated as Yingshan County. Luotian County is still Qichun County in Huainan West Road.
At the beginning of the Yuan Dynasty, Luotian County was abolished and Yingshan County was taken over. It was restored in 1275, belonging to Qizhou Road, Jiangbei Province, Henan Province. In 1304, the magistrate Zhou Guang moved the county government from Kuishan to guanduhe.
In the Ming Dynasty, Luotian belonged to Qizhou Prefecture of Huguang minister at the beginning, and later to Huangzhou Prefecture.
In the early Qing Dynasty, according to the Ming system, it was later renamed Huangzhou Prefecture of Hubei Province.
During the period of the Republic of China, it successively belonged to Jianghan Road, the third administrative supervision district and the second administrative supervision district of Hubei Province. During the Anti Japanese War, it was once an administrative office in Eastern Hubei.
On March 27, 1949, Luotian County was liberated. After the establishment of the people's government, it was under the jurisdiction of Huanggang prefecture (special) of Hubei Province. In 1952, the Hubei provincial government set aside Shengli town and other 13 townships, and some townships set up Shengli county. In 1955, Shengli county was abolished, and the original area was returned to Luotian. In December 1995, Huanggang district administrative office was abolished and Huanggang City was established. Luotian was subordinate to Huanggang City.
