History of construction
As early as 1000 BC, human beings had worked, lived and multiplied in Licheng, a beautiful and rich land. Licheng District belongs to Putian County since ancient times. There are many sea erosion caves in the western suburb of Putian City, where the ancient people lived in caves. In Yangtang, Zhongfeng village, Daji Township, Xianyou County, relics such as stone axes, stone gallows and pottery pieces from the period of Chinese "Eastern impressionistic pottery culture" have been found, with a history of about 3000 years. A large number of Neolithic relics, such as Shiben, impression pottery, Shige, taopai and Shifu, were also excavated in Tulou Xiwei, Yuanzhuang Township, Xianyou County, Huating, Chengxiang District and Xitianwei Town, Licheng District.
In ancient times, Licheng District was one of the "nine states" in Yangzhou. Yu Gong in the book called "Jiuzhou as Ji, Yan, Qing, Yang, Jing, Yu, Liang and Yong". "Erya Shidi" says: "Jiangnan is called Yangzhou.". In the Western Zhou Dynasty, Licheng District was one of the "seven Min" areas. "ShuoWenJieZi" of the Eastern Han Dynasty says: "Fujian, Southeast Vietnam, snake species, from the sound of insects.". The exact scope of "southeast Vietnam" usually refers to the whole territory of southeast Zhejiang and Fujian, as well as Chaozhou, Shantou and Meizhou in Guangdong.
According to this, Putian and Xianyou also belong to Fujian. During the spring and Autumn period and the Warring States period, after the fall of Gou Jian, the king of Yue, the power of Yue (the capital of Shaoxing, Zhejiang Province) began to enter the "seven Fujian" area. The other Yue people around the state of Yue also entered because they escaped the war. In the ninth year of King Nan of Zhou Dynasty (306 BC), Yue State was destroyed by Chu state, and its clan was divided into four parts. Aristocrats poured into Fujian on a large scale, integrated with the local indigenous people, and gradually formed a new Minyue tribe. At the end of the Warring States period, a Yue chieftain who came to Fujian established the kingdom of Fujian and Vietnam. Putian and Xianyou became one of the territories of Yue.
Yangzhou, one of the thirteen historical divisions set up by Emperor Wu of the Han Dynasty, still covers the whole territory of Fujian today. In the first year of Jin Yongkang (300 AD), Fujian was put under Jiangzhou. In the sixth year of Liang Dynasty (525 AD), it was under the jurisdiction of East Yangzhou. In the first year of Chen Yongding (557 AD), minzhou was established.
Putian County was called "Pukou" in ancient times. In 568 A.D. (the second year of Chen Guangda), it was separated from Nan'an county and was named "Licheng" because it is rich in litchi. Xianyou County, formerly known as Qingyuan, was set up in the west of Putian as early as the second year of Shengli (699 AD). Because of the legend of he's nine brothers crossing the carp to become immortal, it was later renamed "Xianyou" or "Licheng". From Song Dynasty to Qing Dynasty, the two counties were subordinate to Xinghua army, Xingan Prefecture, Xinghua Road and Xinghua Prefecture, so they are still commonly known as "Xinghua" (Nanyang area is called "Xingan").
Putian County was set up twice in the second year of Chen Guangda (568) and the ninth year of kaihuang (589) of the Sui Dynasty in the Southern Dynasty, both of which were abolished soon. Putian and Xianyou belong to Qingyuan County (now Quanzhou).
In the fourth year of the Song Dynasty (979), including Putian, Xianyou, Fuqing and Yongtai counties, Xinghua County was set up, Taiping army was established (later changed to Xinghua army, governing Xinghua County) and led Xinghua, Putian and Xianyou counties. In the eighth year (983), its governing post was moved to Putian County, and in the second year (1277) of Jingyan, Xinghua army was changed to Xing'an Prefecture.
Yuan to Yuan 15 years (1278) for Xinghua Road. At the end of the Yuan Dynasty and before the Ming Dynasty, there was a military rebellion in Putian, Quanzhou.
Ming Hongwu two years (1369) for Xinghua Prefecture, orthodox thirteen years (1448) cut Xinghua County.
In the early Qing Dynasty, Xianyou County in Putian was under the jurisdiction of Xingquan Yongdao (Putian, Quanzhou, Yongchun, Dehua, Datian, Xiamen).
It was abandoned in 1912 and belonged to Nanlu Road (changed to Xiamen Road in 1914). The road was abandoned in 1925, directly under Fujian Province. In 1933, the "people's revolutionary government of the people's Republic of China" or "Fujian people's government" was established as "Xingquan (Quanhai) province". In July 1934, it was the fourth administrative supervision district (in Xianyou, lingxianyou, Yongchun, Dehua, Datian, Huian and Putian).
After liberation in August 1949, it belonged to the fifth special area, Quanzhou special area in 1950 and Jinjiang special area in 1955. In 1970, it belonged to Minhou special district (the residence was moved to Putian County). In 1971, it was changed into Putian area, with jurisdiction over Putian, Xianyou, Fuqing, Pingtan, Changle, Minhou, Minqing and Yongtai counties. In 1973, Minhou County was designated as Fuzhou City. On April 28, 1983, the State Council approved the abolition of Putian area, which included Minqing, Yongtai, Fuqing, Changle and Pingtan counties as Fuzhou City, and Putian and Xianyou counties as Jinjiang area (now Quanzhou). Putian and Xianyou counties in Jinjiang area were put under the jurisdiction of Putian City with some administrative regions of Putian County as its administrative regions. Putian County is located in Chengxiang District and Hanjiang District.
