Shache county is a county under the jurisdiction of Kashgar Prefecture, Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, with 5 streets, 14 towns, 14 townships, 1 ethnic township and 2 management committees. There are 480 administrative villages and 76 communities.
Located in the southwest border of Xinjiang, it is bounded by Yeerqiang River in the southeast, across the river from Zepu county and Yecheng county. It is adjacent to Maigaiti County in the northeast, Bachu County in the north, Yuepu lake and Shule County in the northwest, Yingjisha and aktao County in the west, and tashkergan County in the southwest.
It is located in the north foot of Kunlun Mountain, south of Pamir Plateau, middle and upper reaches of Yeerqiang River alluvial fan plain between Taklimakan Desert and buguri desert.
The total area of the county is 9037 square kilometers.
In May 2017, the county had 870 thousand registered residence population, more than 20 Uyghur, Han, Hui, Tajik and 96.3% ethnic minorities.
Shache county is the largest badanm production base in China, known as the hometown of badanm in China.
Shache has a history of more than 3000 years. It has become a well-known tribal state in the western regions for several times, successively known as Shache state, Qusha state and Yeerqiang Khanate. It is the hub of the ancient Silk Road and an important military garrison. It is a famous historical and cultural city with the integration of human landscape and natural landscape, Central Asian culture and western region culture.

Historical evolution
Shache county is named after the country of Lufthansa. When Zhili Prefecture was established in 1883, the ancient name of Shache was used, which was called Shache Zhili Prefecture. It is the beginning of Shache county. The etymology and meaning of Shache need to be studied. The local ethnic language place name corresponding to Shache is Yeerqiang. The place name Yeerqiang should be named after water (Yeerqiang River). Yeerqiang first appeared in the Turkic Dictionary of Mahmoud Kashkari in the 11th century. In the Han Dynasty, Shache was one of the 36 states in the western regions.
The Three Kingdoms and the Northern Wei Dynasty, called Qusha, belong to Shule.
In the Sui, Tang and Northern Song Dynasties, it belonged to Khotan.
The Southern Song Dynasty belongs to the Western Liao Dynasty.
In the Yuan Dynasty, it was the fiefdom of the queen of Chagatai. It was called al'erqian, ya'erkan, yeliqian, ya'erkan, etc.
Ming Dynasty, the period belongs to the eastern Chagatai Khanate, Ming history for ya'ergan.
In the 26th year of Qianlong (1761), there was a Yeerqiang minister.
Guangxu nine years (1883), home Shache Zhili state, state governance Shache, jurisdiction Ye City.
In 1902, Zhili Prefecture was promoted to Shache Prefecture, which was under the jurisdiction of Kashgar road. It had jurisdiction over Puli sub Defense Department, Bachu Prefecture, Yecheng county and Pishan county. Shache Prefecture is the predecessor of Shache county.
In 1912, Shache Prefecture was changed to Shache county.
In 1929, Shache county was divided into Shache and Yeerqiang counties.
In 1943, it was reunited. In the same year, Shache inspection area was set up, with jurisdiction over Shache, Zepu, Yecheng and Maigaiti counties.
In 1949, it was the resident of Shache special area, and still has jurisdiction over four counties.
In 1956, Shache district was removed and Kashgar district was returned.
In 1978, it later belonged to Kashgar region.
In 1999, Shache County governed seven district offices, seven towns, 22 townships and seven state-owned farms.
In 2014, Yeerqiang sub district office was set up in yetuomuwusitang Township, Shache county. The sub district office is located at No. 4, pusha Avenue, Shache county (xinzhenghan [2014] No. 207). Gulebage township was abolished and gulebage town was established (XZH [2014] No. 80).

Shache county is an important commodity grain and cotton base in China. It is the largest production base of badanm in China and is known as the hometown of badanm in China.
