Tianning District, under the jurisdiction of Changzhou City, Jiangsu Province, is the main urban area of Changzhou City. It is named after Tianning Temple, the "first jungle in Southeast China" with a history of more than 1300 years. Shanghai Nanjing high speed railway, new Beijing Hangzhou canal and Shanghai Nanjing Expressway pass through the area, and Changzhou station and Changzhou bus station are located in the area.

The district has an administrative jurisdiction area of 154 square kilometers, under which there is one provincial Development Zone (Tianning Economic Development Zone), one central town (Zhenglu town), six streets (Diaozhuang, Qinglong, Chashan, Hongmei, Tianning and Lanling), 134 villages and communities, with a permanent resident population of about 690000. In 2017, the regional GDP was about 75 billion yuan, an increase of 8%, and the comprehensive strength of the region ranked 86th among the top 100 districts in China.

Tianning district has won many awards, such as "national community service demonstration city", "national community construction demonstration city", "national disabled work demonstration area", "national community disabled rehabilitation typical area", "national mass sports advanced unit", "national fifth population census advanced area", "provincial double support model area" and "provincial community health service demonstration area" This is an honorary title. Historical evolution

Before the founding of the people's Republic of China, Tianning District belonged to Mingshan Town, Longcheng town and Qingshan town of Wujin County.

After the founding of the people's Republic of China, it belonged to Mingshan and Longcheng towns of Wujin County.

In 1949, the town was abandoned and the first district was set up. In 1952, the eastern district was built. In 1956, it was renamed Tianning district. In 1960, it was renamed Dongfeng district. In 1980, it was renamed Tianning district.

In January 1987, the former Guanghua district was abolished, and half of the staff and the three streets under its jurisdiction, ancient village, Qingliang and Lanling, were under the leadership and management of Tianning district.

In 1996, Tianning District governed eight streets, with an area of 18.7 square kilometers and a population of 250000. The district government is located in Xinfeng street.

In April 2002, the four townships of Chashan, Diaozhuang, Hongmei and Qinglong in the suburb of Changzhou City were put under the jurisdiction of Tianning District, and the two administrative organs of the former suburb and Tianning district were merged. By the end of 2002, Tianning district had jurisdiction over 8 streets and 4 townships: Xinfeng street, shuimenqiao street, Beihuan road street, Lanling street, Gucun street, juqian street, Qingliang street, Chaoyang Bridge Street, Chashan Township, Diaozhuang Township, Hongmei Township and Qinglong township.

In October 2003, Diaozhuang township was abolished to set up Diaozhuang street in its original jurisdiction; Qinglong township was abolished to set up Qinglong Street in its original jurisdiction; Chashan township was abolished to set up Chashan street in its original jurisdiction; Hongmei township was abolished to set up Hongmei street in its original jurisdiction. The adjusted Tianning district has jurisdiction over 10 streets, including Xinfeng street, juqian street, Diaozhuang, Qinglong, Chashan, Hongmei, Beihuan Road, Chaoyang Bridge, Qingliang, Lanling, etc.

In 2006, Xinfeng street and juqian street were abolished and merged with Hongmei street and Chaoyang Street to establish Tianning street; Beihuan street was abolished and merged with Hongmei street, Xinfeng street and Qinglong Street to establish Hongmei street; the area north of Hongmei street and the east of Wujiaochang North Road was classified as Qinglong Street; Chaoyang Street and Qingliang street were abolished In addition, the south of Hongmei Street office canal and the east of Cailing River are classified as Diaozhuang street. After the adjustment, Tianning District governs six streets.

At the end of 2009, the total area of Tianning district was 65 square kilometers, with jurisdiction over six streets: Diaozhuang street, Qinglong Street, Chashan street, Hongmei street, Tianning street and Lanling street.

In May 2015, "the State Council's reply on Approving Jiangsu Province to adjust some administrative divisions of Changzhou City" said that "Zhenglu town of Wujin District will be under the jurisdiction of Tianning District of Changzhou City".
