Gaoyang County Gaoyang County, subordinate to Baoding City, Hebei Province, is located in the southeast of Baoding City in the North China Plain. It borders on the North China Pearl Baiyangdian and Anxin County of xiong'an New District in the north, Qingyuan District in the west, Lixian County and Suning County in the south, Hejian and Renqiu in the East, with a total area of 495 square kilometers. As of October 2019, Gaoyang County has one street, five towns, two townships and one development zone, with a total population of 355800 (in 2017), and the county government is located in Gaoyang town.

In the sixth year of emperor Gaozu (201 BC) of the Western Han Dynasty, Gaoyang County was established as Zhuo County; in the period from Jianhe to Yongshou (147-157 BC), Gaoyang County was established as county governance, and the county belonged to Gaoyang County; in the first year of Yanxi (158 BC), it belonged to Boling County; in the last year of Jian'an (215-219 BC), it belonged to Hejian county.
During the period of the Three Kingdoms, Gaoyang was the place of Wei. In 221, it was subordinate to Gaoyang County.
In 265, the first year of Taishi in the Western Jin Dynasty, it belonged to the state of Gaoyang.
In the Eastern Jin Dynasty, Gaoyang was captured by the later Han Dynasty in December 317, the fourth year of Jianxing. From the first year of Jianwu (317) to the 20th year of Taiyuan (395), Gaoyang was successively occupied by the former Zhao, the latter Zhao, the former Yan and the latter Yan. In 396, Gaoyang belonged to the Northern Wei Dynasty.
In the northern and Southern Dynasties, Gaoyang was transferred to Yingzhou in 486, and was granted the title of King Gaoyang in 494. The first year of Tianbao in the Northern Qi Dynasty (550) belongs to the Northern Qi Dynasty. Jiande six years of the Northern Zhou Dynasty (577), belongs to the Northern Zhou Dynasty.
In the third year of kaihuang (583) of Sui Dynasty, Gaoyang County was abolished, and the county belonged to Yingzhou. In the 16th year of kaihuang (596), Puzhou was established in Gaoyang, and Gaoyang was the state and county. Daye three years (607), changed to Hejian County, Renqiu county was abandoned, its southwest into Gaoyang County.
In 621, Tang Wude established Puzhou in Gaoyang; in 627, Zhenguan abolished Puzhou, and Gaoyang successively belonged to Yingzhou, Zhuozhou, and Fanyang counties; in 726, Kaiyuan established Gaoyang army as military rule.
In the period of Five Dynasties and Ten Kingdoms, Gaoyang County was established in the first year of Tongguang (923) of the later Tang Dynasty; Qidan county was established in the first year of Tianfu (936) of the later Jin Dynasty; and Gaoyang County was established in the sixth year of Xiande (959) of the later Zhou Dynasty.
In the third year of the Song Dynasty (997), it was changed to Shun'an army and Gaoyang was ruled by the army; in the sixth year of Xining (1073), Gaoyang was demoted to town and still belonged to Shun'an army.
In 1129, it was established in Anzhou.
