Dingxing County, subordinate to Baoding City, Hebei Province, is located in the middle of Baoding city and the hinterland of Jizhong plain, with a total area of 714.4 square kilometers and a cultivated area of 740000 mu. The county is 23 kilometers long from north to South and 31 kilometers wide from east to west, with a total area of 710 square kilometers and a cultivated area of 49300 hectares. It has a provincial industrial agglomeration area, 5 towns, 11 townships, 1 urban area and 274 administrative villages, with a total population of 600000 (in 2019). It is one of the 35 counties (cities) around Beijing Tianjin metropolitan area in Hebei Province.
Dingxing county has flat terrain and deep soil layer. Juma River, Beiyishui River and ZhongYishui river run through the whole county from west to East, with good hydrological and engineering geological conditions.
Beijing Guangzhou railway, 107 National Road, Beijing Hong Kong Macao Expressway and Zhangshi Expressway run through the north and south. In September 2020, it will be included in the list of food industry strong counties (cities, districts) in Hebei Province.
Historical evolution
Dingxing county is Jizhou in Yao and Tang Dynasties, Youzhou in Shun and Yu dynasties, Jizhou in Xia Dynasty, Youzhou in Yin and Shang Dynasties, Yanguo in Zhou and Bingzhou, and Yanguo in spring and autumn and Warring States.
In the 21st year of Yingzheng (226 BC), the king of Qin set up Fanyang county to govern the old city (now Gucheng).
In the Western Han Dynasty, it was named Fanyang County, and Xinmang was renamed Shunyin. In the Eastern Han Dynasty, it was the Marquis state of Fanyang. In 224, it was established in the fifth year of the Wei and Huang dynasties of the Three Kingdoms. In 265, the first year of Taishi in the Western Jin Dynasty, Fanyang county was restored.
In the seventh year of Wuping in the Northern Qi Dynasty (576), Fan Yang's office was moved from his old city to futu city (now the "official city" in the north of Bailou Village).
