Longhai District Longhai District, belonging to Zhangzhou City, Fujian Province, is located in the south of Fujian Province at the mouth of the Jiulong River. In 618, the first year of Wude in Tang Dynasty, an County was rebuilt as Jianzhou, and Longxi County was built as Jianzhou. In the sixth year, Min county was promoted as the capital of Quanzhou, and Longxi County was built as Jianzhou. In the first year of Sisheng (684), Putian, Nan'an and Longxi in Quanzhou were established as wurongzhou (governed in Nan'an). Longxi County belonged to wurongzhou, and soon it was abandoned and merged into Quanzhou, where it was located in Fuzhou.
In the second year of Tang Dynasty (686), Zhangzhou was set up in the south of Quanzhou (at this time, Quanzhou was based in today's Fuzhou, and today's Quanzhou was finally set up in the Jiushi period of Tang Dynasty (700 AD), before which it was abolished many times) and a small part of Chaozhou. In 716 (the fourth year of Kaiyuan), he moved to Zhou and ruled to Li aochuan (now Suian Town, Zhangpu County). After the 29th year of Kaiyuan, Longxi County and Longyan county came to the province. In 786 (the second year of Zhenyuan), Zhouzhi moved to Guilin village, Longxi County (now Zhangzhou City). In the second year of Jingyun (711), wurongzhou was changed to Quanzhou (located in Jinjiang), and Longxi County belonged to Quanzhou.

In the second year of Tang Guangqi (886), Wang Chao's three brothers entered Fujian with Wang Xu's peasant army and captured Quanzhou. Chen Yan appointed Wang Chao as the governor of Quanzhou. In 947, the Southern Tang Dynasty destroyed the state of Fujian, and Zhangzhou was ruled by Wang Chao and the state of Fujian, which lasted for 61 years. In the first year of Kaiping (909), Wang Shenzhi was the king of Fujian and established the state of Fujian, with Fuzhou as its capital.
In 946, Zhangzhou was renamed Nanzhou. Longxi County belonged to Nanzhou, and Qingyuan army took charge of Nanzhou. In 966, Nanzhou was renamed Zhangzhou. Longxi County belonged to Zhangzhou, and Qingyuan army took charge of Zhangzhou.
In the first year of Qiande of Song Dynasty (963), Qingyuan Army (under the jurisdiction of Quanzhou, Putian and Zhangzhou) was renamed Pinghai Navy, and Chen Hongjin was the Jiedushi. At the same time, he was in charge of Nanzhou. Zhangzhou belonged to Pinghai Navy. In 978, Chen Hongjin took over the territory of the Song Dynasty, and Zhangzhou was incorporated into the territory of the Song Dynasty with the Pinghai Navy.
In 1279, Zhangzhou was changed into Zhangzhou road. Longxi County belongs to Zhangzhou road in Fujian Province.
On the fifth day of December in the 45th year of Jiajing in the Ming Dynasty (January 14, 1567), the imperial court approved the establishment of Haicheng County by analyzing the five maps of the first capital to the ninth capital and the twenty eighth capital of Longxi County and the nine maps of the twenty third capital of Zhangpu County. Longxi and Haicheng belong to Zhangzhou Prefecture.
In Qing Dynasty, Longxi and Haicheng belonged to Zhangzhou Prefecture. In the Qing Dynasty, there was dingzhang Longdao, which governed the counties of Tingzhou Prefecture, Zhangzhou Prefecture and Longyan Prefecture.
In the first year of the Republic of China, Fujian implemented a three-level political system of province, road and county. Longxi and Haicheng belonged to the West Road of Fujian Province; in three years, the west road was changed to tingzhang Road, and Longxi and Haicheng belonged to it.
In the 14th year of the Republic of China, the road was abandoned, and the provincial and county political system was implemented in Fujian. Longxi and Haicheng were directly under the provincial government.
On April 20 of the 21st year of the Republic of China, the East Route Army of the Chinese workers' and peasants' Red Army entered Zhangzhou (Longxi County). In late April, the Minnan workers' and peasants' Revolutionary Committee was established, which belonged to Longxi and Haicheng counties. It ended when the Red Army returned to the Soviet Area on May 28.
In November of the 22nd year of the Republic of China, the "Fujian incident" took place and the people's revolutionary government of the Republic of China was established. In December, Fujian was divided into four provinces: minhai, Yanjian, Xingquan and Longting. Longxi and Haicheng belong to Longting province.
In July of the Republic of China, Fujian Province was divided into 10 administrative supervision districts, and Longxi and Haicheng belonged to the sixth Office of the Commissioner of administrative supervision; in October of the next year, Fujian Province was divided into 7 administrative supervision districts, and Longxi and Haicheng belonged to the fifth Office of the Commissioner of administrative supervision.
In September 1949, the Chinese people's liberation army invaded Fujian. Longxi and Haicheng belonged to the Zhangzhou military control commission of the Chinese people's Liberation Army.
After the founding of the people's Republic of China, it was initially the fifth administrative supervision district of Fujian Province.
On September 26, 1949, the people's Government of Fujian Province decided to change the former fifth administrative supervision district into the sixth administrative supervision district and set up the sixth Office of the Commissioner of administrative supervision. On September 14, 1950, it was changed into Longxi district and the Longxi District Commissioner's office was established. In June 1951, the first and second districts of Chengguan in Longxi County were set up as Zhangzhou City (now Xiangcheng District).
In March 1955, Longxi district was changed to Longxi District, and Longxi Commissioner's office was established.
In September 1957, Dongpu, Sanmei and shanbian townships of Zhangpu County were assigned to Haicheng county.
In August 1958, Haicang and Xinlong townships of Haicheng county were divided into Xiamen suburbs, and now belong to Haicang District of Xiamen.
On August 15, 1960, the State Council approved the merger of Longxi and Haicheng into Longhai County, which belongs to the Longxi regional Commissioner's office.
In June 1967, Longhai County belonged to the military control committee of Longxi special area of Fujian Province of the Chinese people's Liberation Army. On April 27, 1968, the Revolutionary Committee of Longhai county was established, and in May it was transferred to the Revolutionary Committee of Longxi region.
In March 1978, Longhai County belonged to Longxi district administrative office.
In October 1980, the Revolutionary Committee of Longhai county was changed into the people's Government of Longhai County, which is still under the administrative office of Longxi district.
In June 1985, Longhai county was under the people's Government of Zhangzhou city.
In May 1993, Longhai county was set up as a city (county-level city) instead of a county.
On February 2, 2021, Longhai City at county level was abolished and Longhai District of Zhangzhou city was established.
