Historical evolution
Because of the water conservancy facilities "Fengze Doumen" in Song Dynasty, the district was named "Fengze District". "Fengze" contains the meaning of "rich land, favor to the people".
In the first year of Tang Jiushi (700), wurongzhou was founded for the third time, and its governance moved from Fengzhou, the former abandoned site, to the plain area of the lower reaches of Jinjiang River, which is 15 Li southeast of Quanzhou City (today's Licheng District). In the second year of Jingyun (711), wurongzhou changed its name to Quanzhou and began to build Quanzhou City in Kaiyuan.
In the second year of Tang Guangqi (886), Wang Chao conquered Quanzhou as an assassin, and in the fifth year of Baoda (947), the Southern Tang Dynasty annexed the state of min, which lasted for 61 years. Wang Chao and Wang Shenzhi brothers were successively envoys of the powerful army. In the first year of Kaiping (909), Wang Shenzhi was the king of min, and established the state of min, with Fuzhou as its capital.
In the seventh year of Baoda in the Southern Tang Dynasty (949), Quanzhou was promoted to Qingyuan Army (now Quanzhou, Putian, Xiamen, Zhangzhou). In the fourth year of Jianlong in the Northern Song Dynasty (963), the Qing Yuan army was changed into the Ping Navy in the Song Dynasty, with Chen Hongjin as the Jiedushi, and Quanzhou belonged to the Ping Navy. In 978, Chen Hongjin took over the territory of the Song Dynasty, and Quanzhou and Zhangzhou were brought into the territory of the Song Dynasty along with the Pinghai Navy. In the same year, song Fuping's navy was Quanzhou. Yuan belongs to Quanzhou Road, Fujian Province. Ming Dynasty belongs to Quanzhou Prefecture, Fujian Province.
In April of the ninth year of Emperor Kangxi of Qing Dynasty (1670), Xingquan road was changed to lead Xinghua and Quanzhou. Yongzheng five years (1727), moved to Xingquan Daozhi in Quanzhou, Xiamen. Yongzheng 12 years (1734), rise to Yongchun County, Yongchun Zhili prefecture to the road, seek to change the name of Xingquan Yongdao, to the end of the Qing Dynasty, Xingquan Yongdao led two: Xinghua, Quanzhou. Zhili Prefecture one: Yongchun Prefecture.
In the first year of the Republic of China (1912), Xingquan Yongdao was renamed Nanlu Dao. In the third year of the Republic of China (1914), it was renamed Xiamen Dao, which governed Xiamen, Putian, Quanzhou and Datian counties. In 1933, the people's revolutionary government of the people's Republic of China (Fujian people's Government) established Xingquan Province, which governs Quanzhou, Putian and Xiamen. In January of the next year, after the failure of the "Fujian transformation", Xingquan province was abolished, and the system of Siming county was restored in Xiamen. In April 1935, it belonged to the fourth administrative supervision district (located in Tong'an, governing Quanzhou, Putian and Xiamen). In 1939, it still belonged to the fourth administrative supervision district of Fujian Province, and the district government was moved from Tong'an to Yongchun. In 1946, the fourth district government of Fujian Province moved from Yongchun to Jinjiang.
In 1949, the PLA entered Fujian. In September 1949, it was under the jurisdiction of Quanzhou, Putian and Xiamen. In July 1950, Tong'an county was transferred to Quanzhou administrative inspector Office of Fujian Province, which was in charge of Quanzhou, Putian and Tong'an counties, and later renamed Jinjiang District.
On November 1, 1950, the Government Affairs Council approved the establishment of Quanzhou City at the county level, which is subordinate to the office of the Commissioner of Jinjiang District.
In January 1951, Quanzhou Municipal People's government was formally established, with Jinjiang county (Quanzhou area was called Jinjiang area) as the administrative region, namely, the present Licheng District.
On May 14, 1985, the State Council approved the abolition of Jinjiang District administrative office and the establishment of Quanzhou City (a prefecture level city under the jurisdiction of the province). The system of city leading county was implemented. The original system of Quanzhou City was changed to district system. Because the ancient city of Quanzhou looks like a carp, it was named "Licheng District".
On December 31, 1985, the people's Government of Licheng District was established, which belongs to Quanzhou and is the resident of Quanzhou Municipal government.
On June 3, 1997, according to the needs of the "big Quanzhou" development plan, the State Council approved Quanzhou to add Fengze and Luojiang districts, and the original administrative region of Licheng District was adjusted into three municipal districts.
