Jixi County, a county under the jurisdiction of Xuancheng City, Anhui Province, is located in the south of Anhui Province and the east of Southern Anhui mountainous area. It is located in the junction zone of Huangshan Mountains and West Tianmu Mountains, the watershed of Yangtze River system and Qiantang River system, bordering Lin'an District of Hangzhou City, Zhejiang Province in the East, Ningguo City and Jingde County in the north, Jingde County, Huangshan District and Shexian County in the west, and Shexian County in the south. Jixi, known as Huayang town in Han Dynasty, was established as Liang'an County in 535, the first year of Liang Datong in Southern Dynasty, and Jixi County in 766, the second year of Yongtai in Tang Dynasty. Jixi is an important part of guxin'an, ancient Shezhou and ancient Huizhou. It belongs to Shezhou from Tang Dynasty to Song Dynasty. In 1121, there were Huiling, Huixi and dahuicun in Jixi, so it was changed from Shezhou to Huizhou. On April 30, 1949, Jixi County was liberated and transferred to Huizhou special district. In January 1988, Jixi County was transferred to Xuancheng district. In January 2001, Jixi County was transferred to Xuancheng City.
Jixi County is one of the six ancient Huizhou counties and one of the birthplaces of Huizhou culture. It is known as "the hometown of Huizhou kitchen". It has the reputation of "no town without Hui, no street without Ji". Most of the intangible cultural heritage in Hui culture comes from Jixi, and hukai Wenmo village makes "earth ink"; Hui cuisine evolved from Jixi folk local cuisine ranks among the eight major cuisines in China; original Hui opera Huizhou Folk Customs, such as "saiqiong bowl" and "swing Pavilion" with local cultural flavor. In the Xia and Shang Dynasties, the county belonged to Yangzhou. It belongs to Wu in the early spring and Autumn period of Zhou Dynasty, and Yue in the later period (after 473 BC).
During the Warring States period (306-223 BC), it belonged to Chu. The 26th year of Qin Dynasty (221 BC) belonged to Kuaiji county.
In the first year of emperor Gaozu of Han Dynasty (206 BC), it belonged to Zhangjun County, which was called she county. In the second year of Yuanshou of Han Dynasty (121 BC), it belonged to Danyang County, which was ruled in Wanling (now Xuancheng).

In the first year of Taikang (280), Jin Dynasty was renamed Xin'an County.

In the first year of Jingfu (892), it belonged to Shezhou. During the Five Dynasties and Ten Kingdoms, it first belonged to the state of Wu (Yang xingmi) and then to the Southern Tang Dynasty.
In the eighth year of Kaibao (975) of the Northern Song Dynasty, the county belonged to Shezhou in Jiangnan West Road, and in the third year of Zhidao (997), it belonged to Shezhou in Jiangnan Road. In the second year of Tianxi (1018), it belonged to Shezhou, Jiangnan East Road. In 1121, Shezhou was changed into Huizhou, named after Huiling and Huixi in Jixi.
In 1277, the county was located on Huizhou Road, the provincial capital of Jianghuai. Twenty one years ago, it belonged to Huizhou road in Jiangsu and Zhejiang Province. In 1357, the third year of Longfeng in Song Dynasty (Han lin'er), the county belonged to Huizhou Road, the southern province of Zhu Yuanzhang. In 1367, the first year of Wu (Zhu Yuanzhang) changed Xing'an Prefecture into Huizhou Prefecture. Jixi County belongs to it.

In September of 1645, Jixi County belonged to Huizhou Prefecture of Jiangnan province. In 1667, it belonged to Huizhou Prefecture of Anhui Province.
