Maoming, a prefecture level city in Guangdong Province. Located in the South China Sea, in the southwest of Guangdong Province, back to the southwest of the motherland. Historical evolution

In the pre Qin period, the early ancients (MABA people) appeared in Lingnan. Maoming belonged to Nanyue in the pre Qin period. In the Shang and Western Zhou dynasties, the ancestors of Guangdong had economic and cultural exchanges with the Shang and Zhou dynasties in the Central Plains.

Qin Han Dynasty, the 33rd year of the first emperor of Qin Dynasty (214 BC), after Qin Ping established Lingnan. Then, the first emperor of Qin set up three prefectures, Guilin, Xiang and Nanhai. Nanhai county is a part of Eastern, northern, central and western Guangdong. It governs Panyu, Longchuan, BOLUO and Sihui. Most of Guangdong Province today belongs to Nanhai county. In addition, Zhanjiang and other places belong to Xiang County, and part of western Guangdong belongs to Guilin county. Maoming belonged to Xiang county and Nanhai County in Qin Dynasty. In the Eastern Han Dynasty, it belonged to Jiaozhou.

In the Sui and Tang Dynasties, in 598, Emperor kaihuang named Maoming County after pan Mao. In 644, Emperor Taizong named Nantang Prefecture after pan Mao. In China, the state was established under the name of Taoist, and the county was established under the name of Pan Mao. In the early Tang Dynasty, Gaozhou was ruled by panzhou in 634, and Gaozhou in 648. In the early years of Tianbao (742), Gaozhou was changed to Gaoliang county and panzhou to Nanpan county.

The five dynasties belong to the Southern Han Dynasty. In the fifth year of Kaibao of Song Dynasty (972), panzhou province entered Gaozhou, still called Gaoliang County, belonging to Guangnan West Road. In the first year of Jingde (1004), the state was abolished and restored to Dou state in the third year (1006).

Yuan, Ming and Qing Dynasties, yuan to Yuan 15 years (1278) set up Gaozhou road appeasement department. In the 19th year (1282), the general manager's office was changed into the Provincial Library of Huguang Xingzhong. In the Ming Dynasty, Gaozhou Prefecture belonged to the Department of Guangdong provincial government. Because of this, Gaozhou Prefecture in Qing Dynasty belonged to Guangdong Province, with five counties (Maoming, Dianbai, Xinyi, Wuchuan and Shicheng).

In the Republic of China, Gaozhou Prefecture was abolished, and Maoming county was under the supervision of gaolei appeasement office and the seventh special district of Nanlu administrative office.

Charming Maoming

Maoming County, the people's Republic of China, is under the jurisdiction of South Road, gaolei, West Guangdong and Zhanjiang districts. On May 12, 1958, Maoming Municipal preparatory office was established. On May 23 of the same year, it was changed into Maoming industrial and mining district urban preparatory office. On August 26 of the same year, Maoming industrial and mining district city was established. After that, all Maoming satellite commune and most rocket commune (Jintang, Gongguan, Xinpo, Gaoshan, Zhensheng, Aotou, Meihua) were successively divided into seven towns, Maonan suburban Economic Development Experimental Zone and Hedong, Hexi, Honghua Seven sub district offices, including Qi, Xinhua, opencast mine, Guandu and Zhanqian, are assigned to Maoming industrial and mining district; Xiaoliang of rocket commune (Zhaoliang, Xiaoliang town) is assigned to Dianbai County; Lanshi, Longshou, Gaozhan of rocket commune and nanshang of Chaoying commune are assigned to Huaxian county. On March 22, 1959, the State Council decided to establish Maoming City (county level). After Huazhou and Wuchuan were divided into counties in 1961, Lanshi, Longshou and Gaozhan were assigned to Wuchuan County, and Nansheng to Huazhou county. The rest of Maoming county and Guding, Magui and Shen towns in Xinyi county are Gaozhou county (Maoming county was merged with Xinyi county first, and then divided into Gaozhou county and Xinyi county).

In 1975, it was upgraded to a prefecture level city, and in 1983, the system of city governing county was implemented, with jurisdiction over Dianbai, Gaozhou, Xinyi and Huazhou. In 1985, Maonan District of Maoming City was established. In 1987, according to the requirements of the masses and the approval of the higher authorities, the eight brigades of the boundary commune, shange, Shaojiu, Xiachi, huangjie, Lucun, Heyi, jintangling and Fuju, were assigned to Maonan District of Maoming City, and shange commune was established. Now it is shange town of Maonan District of Maoming City.

In October 1992, on the basis of Nanhai town of Dianbai County, Maoming Shuidong Economic Development Experimental Zone was formally established with the approval of the provincial people's government.

In the three years from 1993 to 1995, Gaozhou, Huazhou and Xinyi counties successively withdrew their counties and built cities, all of which were county-level cities and were managed by Maoming City.

In January 2001, on the basis of Shuidong Economic Development Experimental Zone of Maoming City, five towns including Yangjiao, poxin, Qijing, Shayuan, Xiaoliang and Nanhai were designated from Dianbai County, and Maogang district was set up with the approval of the State Council. In August 2002, with the approval of the Provincial Department of civil affairs, Maogang district was approved to abolish Nanhai town and set up Nanhai and Gaodi sub district offices.

In 2014, the State Council approved the adjustment of some administrative divisions of Maoming City in Guangdong Province, and abolished the merger of Maogang district and Dianbai County to establish Dianbai district. So far, Maoming City has jurisdiction over Maonan district and Dianbai District, and is in charge of three county-level cities, namely Gaozhou, Xinyi and Huazhou.
