Historical evolution
Xinyu has a long history. A large number of stone tools and pottery unearthed from the site of primitive society (the site) in the northeast of the City show that our ancestors lived here as long as 5000 years ago in the Neolithic age.
In 267, the second year of Wu Baoding in the Three Kingdoms, Xinyu county was established.
In the ninth year of kaihuang (589), the county was withdrawn and merged into Wuping County. Kaihuang 18 years (598 years), from Yichun designated the restoration of Xinyu county.
In the fifth year of Wude (622) of the Tang Dynasty, the county was withdrawn and divided into Shiping County in the northeast of new Chongqing. The southwest of the county was xiwuzhou. In the seventh year of Wude, xiwuzhou was abolished and Xinyu county was restored. In the first year of Tianbao in Tang Dynasty (742), the name of the county was changed from Yu to Yu because of the mistakes in biography, and later it was inherited as Yu.
In the first year of Yuanzhen (1295) of the Yuan Dynasty, it was promoted to a prefecture because of its population of more than 50000 households.

Qing Dynasty, along the Ming system.
In the 19th year of the Republic of China (may 1930), the Soviet government of Xinyu county was established in shangmuyuan village of Liangshan Town, which governed the eastern, Western and southern districts.
In the 21st year of the Republic of China (March 1932), Xinyu county and Xiajiang county were merged to form Xinxia county. Xinyu is divided into four districts: Shuikou, Fengcheng, Donglu and Yaosi.
In October 1934, the Soviet area was completely lost during the long march of the Red Army. After the founding of the people's Republic of China, it is still a county system.
On July 14, 1949, Xinyu was liberated, belonging to Yuanzhou District (the office of the high commissioner was stationed in Yichun).
In 1953, Xinyu County belonged to Nanchang special district (the two special districts of Yuanzhou and Nanchang were merged and called Nanchang special district, and the office of the commissioner was stationed in Nanchang).
In May 1957, the State Council announced that the new metaphor was renamed Xinyu.
In 1958, Xinyu County belonged to Yichun special area (the special office was moved from Nanchang to Yichun and renamed Yichun special area).
In September 1960, in order to adapt to the development of iron and steel industry, with the approval of the State Council, Xinyu county was abolished and Xinyu City was established, which was directly under the provincial government.
In 1963, due to the reduction of the construction scale of Xinyu Iron and steel industry, Xinyu City was abolished and Xinyu county was restored, still belonging to Yichun special area (later renamed Yichun Area).
In July 1983, with the approval of the State Council, Xinyu City was restored, and Fenyi County in Yichun Area was put under the jurisdiction of Xinyu City.

topographic features
According to the geomorphological map of Jiangxi Province, the landform of Xinyu City belongs to the middle section of Pingxiang Gaoan eroded and denuded Hilly Basin (sub region) and valley terrace and hilly region (region) in the middle reaches of Ganfu. It is high in the north and south, low in the middle, with Yuanhe River running through it and open in the East. There are six types of landforms: low mountains, high hills, low hills, hills, terraces and plains. The geomorphic genetic types include erosional tectonic landform, erosional denudation landform, solution erosion landform and accumulation landform. Most of the mountains in the territory are distributed in the border, Wugong Mountain and Jiulong Mountain in the south, Mengshan Mountain in the north and Dagang mountain in the southwest. The altitude is 500-1000 meters, which becomes the boundary line or watershed with neighboring counties. The direction of the mountains is mainly from north to southwest. Due to the geological structure, it is generally characterized by towering peaks, steep mountains and deep valleys. hydrology
Yuanhe River is the main river flowing through Xinyu City. It belongs to Ganjiang River system. It runs from east to west, with a length of 116.9 km. Yuanhe originates from the northern foot of Wugong Mountain in Pingxiang City. From west to East, it passes through Pingxiang and Yichun, enters Xinyu City in Chetian village of Yangjiang Township in Fenyi County, leaves longweizhou village of Xinxi Township in Yushui District, and flows into Ganjiang River in hebuguan of Zhangjiashan in Zhangshu City. natural resources
water resource
The total amount of water resources in Xinyu City is 5.95395 billion cubic meters, of which the regional outflow is 2.54368 billion cubic meters. The main source of surface water is river runoff, and a little is mountain spring water. The runoff in most areas of the city is between 750 mm and 900 mm. The general trend is that the runoff in the northwest is greater than that in the southeast, and that in the mountainous area is greater than that in the plain area of the lower reaches of the Yuan river. The Yangqiao river system is the highest, generally greater than 850 mm. Nanankou water system is the lowest, about 780 mm. Other areas are around 800 mm. The average runoff of the whole city is 800mm. The regional distribution of runoff is uneven, and the annual distribution of runoff is also uneven. Because the runoff of Liuchuan is mainly supplied by precipitation, the average annual precipitation is 1600mm, which has great seasonal variation. The average reserves of groundwater in the city is 879 million cubic meters, of which 344 million cubic meters are available for development and utilization, mainly distributed in loose rock groundwater and karst groundwater.

The forest land area of Xinyu City is 1.7789 million mu (including 851000 mu of Fenyi), and the total volume of forest standing trees is 3.1155 million cubic meters, of which 1.4664 million cubic meters are dominant species of Chinese fir, accounting for 56.81% of the total volume, 804600 cubic meters are dominant species of Pinus massoniana, accounting for 31.18%, and 309900 cubic meters are dominant species of broad-leaved trees, accounting for 12.01%. In addition to fir and pine, there are Chu, camphor, elm, beech, cypress, catalpa, poplar, Sophora, oak, Tung, willow, maple, mulberry, ebony, Tung, Phoebe, chair and so on.
