Jiangdu District Jiangdu District, belonging to Yangzhou City, Jiangsu Province, is located in the middle of Jiangsu Province, adjacent to the Yangtze River in the south, Guangling district and Hanjiang District of Yangzhou City in the west, Taizhou City in the East and Gaoyou City in the north. The total area is 1332.54 square kilometers (including 85.8% land area and 14.2% water area). By the end of 2019, the resident population in Jiangdu district was 1 million 20 thousand and 100, with 1 million 37 thousand and 400 registered residence and 13 towns. Jiangdu was called Longchuan in ancient times, and it got its name because "the water of Jianghuai River converges here". Jiangdu county was built in the fourth year of the Yuan Dynasty (153 BC) by Emperor Jingdi of the Western Han Dynasty; Jiangdu county was withdrawn in July 1994 and Jiangdu City was built; Jiangdu City at the county level was abolished and Jiangdu District of Yangzhou city was established in November 2011. Evolution of organizational system
As early as the late Neolithic period, people engaged in various agricultural production activities in Jiangdu district. The spring and Autumn period belongs to the state of Wu.
In the 24th year of the reign of the king of Qin (223 BC), the Qin Dynasty destroyed Chu and was located in Guangling County of the state of Qin.
In the fourth year of the Yuan Dynasty (153 BC), Jiangdu county was built.
It was abolished in the Three Kingdoms period, rebuilt in the Western Jin Dynasty, merged into Yu County in the early Eastern Jin Dynasty, and rebuilt in the reign of emperor mu. Since then, the county has experienced many changes.
After December of 1937, the Japanese army occupied most of Jiangdu County, and the national government of Jiangdu County moved to the countryside. The Communist Party went deep behind the enemy lines and opened up Anti Japanese base areas. The counties belonged to three different kinds of political power. The puppet Jiangdu County Office (formerly known as the puppet Jiangbei autonomous association) was established under the rule of the Japanese puppets until the surrender of the Japanese puppets in August 1945; Jiangdu County under the rule of the national government until the collapse of the national government of Jiangdu County in January 1949.
In July 1940, the Communist Party established the Anti Japanese democratic government of Jiangdu County in the east of Jiangdu county.
In September 1942, Jiangdu county was divided into Jiangdu county and Handong county.
In April 1943, Jiangdu county was merged with Han county.
In December 1945, Jiangdu county was divided into Jiangdu county and Fanchuan county.

After the founding of new China, Yangzhou city was divided into urban and suburban areas.

In July 1994, Jiangdu county was withdrawn and Jiangdu City was built.
In November 2011, the county-level Jiangdu City was abolished and Jiangdu District of Yangzhou city was established.

The total area of Shaobo lake is 1405.24 hectares, including 927.15 hectares of water area and 478.08 hectares of beach land. More than 200000 mu of lake water in Jiangdu district is rich in special aquatic products such as eel, turtle, crab, Macrobrachium rosenbergii and Shao Boling. There are many kinds of animals, including 154 kinds of birds, more than 90 kinds of fish, reptiles, mammals, crustaceans, molluscs and so on.

Jiangdu is located in the southern half of Gaoyou sag in the central Subei basin. It is rich in underground oil and gas resources. It has proved 30 million tons of oil reserves, accounting for more than 60% of Jiangsu Province. It is the main oil and gas producing area in Jiangsu Province.
Jiangdu area is located in the south of Subei basin, Fanchuan deep depression is located in the center of Jiangdu, which is a favorable area for natural oil and gas accumulation. In 1956, the National Geological Exploration Department began to carry out oil and gas geological exploration. Oil and gas shows were found in the 1960s, and industrial oil and gas flow was obtained in the 1970s. In September 1974, well Su 58 was drilled near the xiyanshao River in Zhenwu township. The well test was conducted in the first section of Yuduo formation from 2012.8 to 2020.6 meters. The 8 mm nozzle produced 41.4 tons of crude oil per day and 161.0 cubic meters of natural gas. After drilling well Su 61 and well Su 62, the daily crude oil production was 34.00 tons and 24.1 tons respectively. By the end of 1999, 12 oil fields had been discovered and developed in Jiangdu area. With the approval of the state, 49.6 million tons of oil reserves and 33.9 square kilometers of oil-bearing area had been proved. The proven oil reserves account for 35.4% of the total reserves of Jiangsu Petroleum Exploration Bureau. The oilfields are distributed in Zhenwu, Yong'an, Shaobo, Wubao, Zhouxi and other places.
