Historical evolution
The origin of "Tinghu" district is closely related to the cultural evolution and naming preference of Yancheng core district. Yancheng City has long been the main urban area of Yancheng City, and Jiandao lane is a part of the ancient central area of Yancheng City. Yancheng people actively carry forward the excellent history and culture. In order to let future generations remember the history of Tinghu middle school founded by Mr. Song Zefu in Jiandao Lane in the city (the former Tinghu middle school founded in Song village of Qinnan town was moved here), the local government changed the name of Lixin primary school in Yancheng City into Tinghu primary school in 1993, which is still in use today. In 1958, the local government established the Tinghu neighborhood committee, and then established the Tinghu sub district office in 1964. Before Yancheng city changed its name, it had four sub district offices: Tinghu, Wenfeng, Xianfeng and Chengdong. Obviously, the name "Tinghu" is directly related to the local conditions, and is a natural extension of the local characteristics of Yancheng administrative office. In addition, the word "Tinghu" is catchy, with beautiful artistic conception and evocative imagination. In fact, when Yancheng city changed its name, the government also mobilized all walks of life to participate in it. It mentioned many other names, such as "piaocheng", but it was not as good as "Tinghu" after all.
Yancheng Municipal People's government yanzhengfa [2002] No. 210 "request for instructions on adjusting the administrative division of Yancheng City" pointed out: "on the basis of the current urban area and Yandu County, according to the requirements of building a big city, Yandu County is abolished and Yandu District is established; the urban area is renamed Tinghu District, and Bufeng Town, Wuyou town and biancang town of Yandu County are assigned to Tinghu district.". The request also further clarified the main considerations for the renaming of "urban area" as "Tinghu": "Tinghu is an old place name in Yancheng City, and the light and shadow of the lake is a scene of Yancheng City. The name of "Tinghu" is because "Tinghu" has a deep historical origin. The section of "Tinghu" was once the core area of the old urban area, and the name of all counties (cities, districts) in the country is not the same as "Tinghu". Finally, on the basis of pooling the wisdom of all parties, the leaders of the municipal Party committee and the municipal government agreed to take the name of "Tinghu" district and report it to the higher authorities. On December 18, 2003, the State Council approved Yancheng City to be renamed Tinghu district. On January 20, 2004, Jiangsu provincial government informed Yancheng City to change its name to Tinghu District of Yancheng City.
The civilization of the land at the foot of Tinghu district has a history of more than 2100 years.
In the fourth year of Yuanshou (119bc), Emperor Wu of the Western Han Dynasty, Yandu County was established. At that time, there were salt boiling pavilions all over the place, and there were salt rivers everywhere. "Du" means the river of transporting salt.
In 411, the name of Yancheng county was changed to Yancheng County, which was named after "all the salt fields around the city". After more than 2000 years of history, Yancheng is full of strong sea salt culture. In ancient times, it was famous for its rich "Huai salt" in China, which was called "Huai Yi land" in ancient times. As early as the Warring States period, it was called "boiling the sea for salt". According to historical records, "there is a sea salt in the East China Sea.". In the Qin and Han Dynasties, it became a prosperous place for fishing and salt. In the Tang Dynasty, there were 123 Yanting salt farms in Yancheng, which were rich in the southeast of Jiadong and paid half of their salaries.
During the reign of Baoying in Tang Dynasty, there were hailing supervisors and Yancheng supervisors, who cooked more than a million stones of salt every year. At that time, Yancheng had become an important salt production center in the southeast coast.
In the Yuan Dynasty, it belonged to Jiangbei province of Henan Province. In the Ming Dynasty, it was under the jurisdiction of Nanjing (nanzhili). In the early Qing Dynasty, it belonged to Jiangnan province. Later, Jiangnan province was divided into East and west provinces, and it belonged to Jiangsu Province. After the middle of the 19th century, Yancheng gradually became the trade center and regional center of grain, cotton, oil and salt in Lixiahe area.
During the period of the Republic of China, it continued to be under the jurisdiction of Jiangsu Province. In 1913, Jiangsu Province established five roads, including Jinling Road and Huaiyang road. In 1927, Jiangsu Province established the administrative supervision district, which was the sixth administrative supervision district. Yancheng county was the first county.
In 1949, the people's Republic of China was founded, which belongs to Yancheng special area of Subei administrative office.
In 1952, the southern and Northern Jiangsu administrative offices merged with Nanjing city to restore Jiangsu Province, which was under the jurisdiction of Jiangsu Province and Yancheng district. In 1970, Yancheng district changed its name to Yancheng District, which belongs to Yancheng district.
In March 1983, Jiangsu province implemented the new system of city leading County, established prefecture level Yancheng City, abolished Yancheng District and Yancheng County, abolished Yancheng town in the same year, and established Yancheng City on the basis of original Yancheng town.
In July 1996, the State Council approved that Nanyang, Qingdun, Xinxing, Yongfeng and Zhangzhuang towns in the suburbs of yuanyan City, and Sandun village in Wuyou town and its northern part should be under the jurisdiction of Yancheng City.
In March 2004, the urban area of Yancheng city was renamed Tinghu District of Yancheng City.
