Historical evolution
Before B.C., a large amount of sediment deposited in the Yangtze River Estuary, forming sandbars of different sizes.
At the end of the Tang Dynasty, there were two sandbanks, Dongzhou and Buzhou, and groups of small sandbanks.
After the Five Dynasties, in 958, Zhou Xiande established the county. The county government was set up in Dongzhou Town, named Haimen County, and the newly established Jinghai County belonged to TongZhou (Jinghai was renamed Tongzhou, under the jurisdiction of Yangzhou).
In Song Dynasty, Tongzhou and Jinghai belonged to TongZhou (once known as Chongzhou and Chongchuan) and belonged to Huainan East Road.
In 1278, Tongzhou was upgraded to TongZhou Road, which was combined with Jinghai and belonged to TongZhou road; in 1285, Tongzhou was restored to Yangzhou Road, which led Jinghai and Haimen counties.
In 1376, Haimen county still belonged to TongZhou; from the late Yuan Dynasty to the early Qing Dynasty, the main channel of the Yangtze River moved northward, and a large area of land in Haimen collapsed.
In 1672, Haimen county was abandoned as Jinghai Township and merged into Tongzhou. In 1768, the hall of Haimen Zhili was set up in the 19th sand of getongzhou, the 11th sand of Chongming and the 41sand of Xinzhang Tiannan.
In the first year of the Republic of China (1912), haimenting was abandoned and Haimen county was restored;
In 1934, it was put under the office of the seventh district commissioner of Jiangsu Province.
In 1936, Suqi district was changed to Susi District, and Haimen county was still under its jurisdiction;

Changle Town and Qilin town were abolished and merged to establish Changle Town. Yuelai Town, Wannian town and Sanyang Town were abolished and Yuelai town was merged. Sijia town and Huolong town were abolished and Sijia town was merged. Yudong Town and Shuxun town were abolished and merged to establish Yudong Town. Zhengyu town and Wanghao town were abolished and Zhengyu town was merged. Baochang Town, Dongzaogang town and Liuhao town were abolished and Baochang town was merged.
On September 11, 2015, Haiyong township was abolished and Haiyong town was established.
