From the 20th century BC to the 17th century BC, two primitive settlements began to appear in Qixia, one is Xuanwu Lake settlement, the other is northeast riverside settlement.
During the spring and Autumn period and the Warring States period, Qixia area first belonged to Wu, then to Yue, and then to Chu. In the 37th year of the first emperor of Qin Dynasty (210 BC), Jiangcheng County (later renamed Sheng county) was established as the earliest county-level administrative system in Qixia region, and its administrative office was located in Jiangcheng Village (now Xihu village, Sheshan town). At that time, the county was vast, starting from shitoucheng and baishilei in the West and along the river in the East. Up to now, Xiashu town in Jurong City has turned to Chunhua Town in Jiangning County in the south. Together with today's Gulou District, Xiaguan District, Jianye District, Baixia District, Qinhuai District and Yuhuatai District of Nanjing City, they are under their control. It belongs to Kuaiji Prefecture. Today Qixia District is located in gujiangcheng county.
