Dongfeng County Dongfeng County is a county under the jurisdiction of Liaoyuan City, Jilin Province. It is located in the south central part of Jilin Province. It is located in hadaling, the branch of Changbai Mountain, and the upstream of Huifa River. It is a semi mountainous area with five mountains, one water and four fields. The whole county covers an area of 2522.24 square kilometers. The county seat of Dongfeng County is 135 kilometers away from the provincial capital Changchun City. It is adjacent to Meihekou in the East and south, Qingyuan County in Liaoning Province in the West and south, Dongliao county and Xifeng County in Liaoning Province in the west, and Yitong county and Panshi County across the river in the north.
As of 2012, Dongfeng County has 12 towns and 2 townships with a total population of 400000. In the Qing Dynasty, it was set up as Shengjing paddock, known as "royal deer garden" in history. It is known as "the hometown of Chinese Sika Deer". The county's antler production ranks first in the country. It is the national commodity grain production base county, one of the three folk painting villages in the country. It has won the national top 100 counties in greening, forest fire prevention, national ecological demonstration, forestry work and villages Clean action, advanced county and many other awards.
In March 2020, it won the title of national advanced county of village cleaning action, and was praised by the central agricultural office and the Ministry of agriculture and rural areas.

In 1922, Tucheng gradually declined. Because of the frequent presence of Renyi army in dongshuishui County, the officers and soldiers in the city had no basis to defend, so they wanted to rebuild Tucheng.
In the spring of 1923, Chang WEIhuai, the director of law enforcement of the armed police, discussed with Ma Zhongyuan, the county magistrate, and local gentry, and used the penalty money for tobacco and gambling as the cost of repairing the city.
In 1923, the construction of Dongfeng County was started in spring and completed in autumn of the same year.
In 1927, Dongfeng station was built. The station is located in the southeast corner of the city, about 6 li away from the city.
In the 19th year of the Republic of China (1930), a new gate, named xinkaimen, was opened in the southeast of the city.
In the summer of 1932, in order to prevent the so-called "banditry", Wang Yingjie, the county magistrate, recruited workers to repair the collapsed area, build the fort and strengthen the city defense.
In 1934, businessmen petitioned to open a new door on the right side of Fu'an gate, called Chaoyang Gate, which is called Xiaodong gate, to facilitate business. After that, nanbianmen was gradually abolished. All the gates of the county were destroyed during the period of Manchukuo, and the earth walls were preserved until the early liberation.
In January 1946, it was under the jurisdiction of Liaobei branch of Jilin Province. Dongfeng County government was established, with jurisdiction over 13 districts. In May 1947, Dongfeng County was liberated. In July 1948, Dongfeng County was assigned to the third special area of Northern Liaoning Province. In October, it was changed into a county directly under the central government of Northern Liaoning Province.
In 1947, the city was divided into six streets: North gate, South Gate, east gate, west gate, central gate and xinkaimen.
In April 1949, Dongfeng County was under the jurisdiction of Liaodong Province, and Dongfeng County government was renamed Dongfeng County People's government.
In July 1954, it was transferred from Liaodong province to Jilin Province together with Liaoyuan city. In December, Dongfeng County was located in Dongfeng Town, with jurisdiction over 9 districts and 197 villages.
In June 1955, the people's Government of Dongfeng County was changed into the people's Committee of Dongfeng County.
In 1956, Chengxiang District was officially renamed as Dongfeng Town, with jurisdiction over Dongmen, Ximen, Nanmen, Beimen and Zhongyang 5th Street, becoming the political, economic and cultural center of the county.
In March 1958, Dongfeng town was renamed Changqing people's commune.
In March 1961, the name of "Dongfeng Town" was restored, with jurisdiction over four streets of Dongmen, Ximen, Nanmen and Beimen, and two brigades of Zhonghou and Qinglong.
In March 1962, Yongqing and Dongqing were merged into Dongfeng Town, and Zhonghou and Qinglong were put under Zhenjiao commune.
In December 1967, Dongfeng County governed one town, 21 communes and 312 brigades.
In March 1969, Zhenjiao commune was abolished and merged with Dongfeng town. It has jurisdiction over Dongfeng and Xijie, Shuangsheng, Jiusheng, Desheng, Miaosheng, Weidong, Zhonghou, Dongqing, Qingshan, Yongqing and Qinglong.
In January 1980, Zhenjiao commune separated from Dongfeng Town, which governs the four streets of East, West, South and north as well as Qinglong and Dongqing brigades.
In May 2003, Dongfeng Town and Zhenjiao Township merged again, with a total of three sub district offices, including Tongshan street, Xinglong Street and Dongfeng Road, 13 community neighborhood committees, 10 villager committees and 58 villager groups.
On February 16, 2005, the former Renhe township was incorporated into Dongfeng Town, with jurisdiction over six communities, including Xicheng, Funan, Xinglong, Nanzhan, Dongxing and Fubei, 21 village committees and 137 villager groups.

Dongfeng County is a low mountain and hilly area surrounded by mountains and rolling hills, which belongs to the crisscross zone of Liaoyuan hilly area and Hailong Huinan Liuhe hilly platform wide valley area. The terrain is high in the West and low in the East, with an altitude of 300-914 meters and an average altitude of 374 meters. It is a semi mountainous area with five mountains, one water and four fields.
The mountainous areas in the territory mainly belong to the hadaling branch, and most of them are parallel ridge like strike from east to west. There are 57 peaks above 500 meters above sea level, most of which are located on the watershed between southwest and northeast.
The low mountains with an altitude of about 500 meters are mostly found in the South and north of Dongfeng County, accounting for 8.6% of the total area of the county. The relative height difference is about 100 meters. The peaks are sharp and steep. The surface is mainly composed of coarse clastic eluvial deposits. The soil is loose and severely eroded, and the footstones are exposed in some places.
The distribution of hilly tableland in Dongfeng County accounts for 61.4% of the total area of the county, with an altitude of 350-500m and a relative elevation difference of about 150m. There are many high hills in the South and low hills in the middle and north of the county. The hills are round, the slopes are gentle, the soil is thin, and even the rocks are exposed. Under the foot of the slope is alluvial proluvial platform. After years of erosion and weathering, it is mostly wavy or beam shaped, commonly known as "jizhaogang".

There are more than 20 tree species in Dongfeng County, including Larix gmelinii, Pinus sylvestris var. mongolica, Pinus koraiensis, Pinus tabulaeformis, oak, poplar, willow and elm. Among them, there are 11 precious tree species: Pinus elliottii, Pinus koraiensis, spruce, Pinus psammophila, Pinus thunbergii, Pinus sylvestris var. mongolica, Larix gmelinii, Sabina vulgaris, Platycladus orientalis and Platycladus creeping.
There are 358 species of wild economic plants belonging to 246 genera and 85 families in Dongfeng County. Among them, 214 are medicinal, 21 are industrial, 16 are edible and 3 are honey source. The economic value of Acanthopanax sessiliflorus, Schisandra chinensis, Codonopsis lanceolata, gentian, lily, asarum, soft jujube, shallot, Pseudostellaria heterophylla, Orobanche, Chimonanthus praecox and YINGSHANHONG were higher.
