Panshan County, a county under the jurisdiction of Panjin City, Liaoning Province, is located in the north of Panjin City, the lower reaches of Liaohe River and the coast of Bohai Sea. It faces Taian County and Haicheng City across the river in the East, Panjin City and Dawa District in the south, Linghai city of Jinzhou City in the West and Beizhen city of Jinzhou City in the north.
As of 2013, Panshan county has an area of 1735 square kilometers, 10 towns and 117 administrative villages, with a total population of 225800.
In 2013, the GDP of Panshan county was 19.7 billion yuan, the total investment in fixed assets was 19.1 billion yuan, the public budget revenue was 2.23 billion yuan, and the per capita disposable income of residents was 16100 yuan, an increase of 25.3%.
Panshan county is one of the "top ten counties in Liaoning Province", "the first county in China's river crab industry", "Liaoning Provincial leisure agriculture and rural tourism demonstration county". In December 2019, it will become a pilot unit for the construction of national rural governance system.
Historical evolution
The name of Panshan comes from Panshan post. Panshan post is a post station built in the early Ming Dynasty when the Liaohe side wall was built. At that time, it belonged to guangningwei. It was named after the eighteen Panshan mountains in Guangning. It was an important frontier defense area in Ming Dynasty. In the Qing Dynasty, the post station was abolished, and local residents gathered in the old site of the post station to form a village, which was used to be called Chengzi street. Later, the original street gradually moved to the West. Because of the Snake Mountain in Guangning, it was also called "Pan snake post".
Panshan belonged to the land of Yan during the Warring States period.

In the early Qing Dynasty, it belonged to Guangning County. Panshe post became a pasturing area for official horses. In 1862, a general manager was set up here. In the 32nd year of the reign of Emperor Guangxu of the Qing Dynasty (1906 AD), the pan snake post was set up to pacify the people. In the next year, the pan mountain hall was set up, and the hall rule was moved to Shuangtaizi.
Panshan county was established in 1913.
In 1948, Panshan County democratic government was established, which was under the jurisdiction of the fifth and second regions of Liaoning Province. In August of the same year, Panshan county was under the direct leadership of Liaoning Province.
In April 1949, Panshan county was subordinate to western Liaoning Province.
In 1950, Panshan farm was changed into the first paddy field farm in western Liaoning Province.
In February 1953, Panshan No.1 paddy field farm was changed into Panshan machinery farm.
In February 1956, Panshan county was under the leadership of Liaoyang Special Administration.
In January 1966, Panshan county and Panjin Agricultural Reclamation Bureau were merged into Panjin reclamation area, which was directly under Liaoning Province.
In October 1968, Dongguo and yangquanzi reed farms were assigned to Panjin reclamation area. In December 1968, Taian County was assigned to Panjin reclamation area.
In January 1970, Panjin reclamation area was divided into Panshan district and Dawa district (county level). On July 15 of the same year, Panjin reclamation area was changed into Panjin area, which governs Panshan and Dawa areas and directly belongs to Liaoning Province.
In November 1975, Panjin District merged with Yingkou City. Panshan district and Dawa district under the jurisdiction of the original region were changed into Panshan county and Dawa County, all under the jurisdiction of Yingkou City. At the same time, Taian County was put under the jurisdiction of Anshan City.
On June 5, 1984, with the approval of the State Council, Panshan county was abolished and Panjin City (prefecture level) was established, directly under Liaoning Province. The seat of Panshan county was assigned to Shuangtaizi District. Since then, there has been no city but a county.
In November 1986, the suburb of Panjin City was abolished and Panshan county was restored. The former administrative region of the suburb of Panjin City was taken as the administrative region of Panshan county.
At the end of 1986, Xingong street of Xinglongtai District was set up in part of the original administrative region of Panshan Town, Panshan county. On July 6, 1987, Gaosheng street of Xinglongtai District was established in some administrative areas of Gaosheng Town, Panshan county. On October 8, 1987, Shuguang street of Xinglongtai District was set up in some administrative areas of Taiping farm in Panshan county. On January 21, 1988, friendship street was set up in some administrative areas of Taiping farm in Panshan county. In March 1988, Huanxi street of Xinglongtai District was set up in some administrative areas of Dongguo Weichang, Panshan county (based on the residential area of Huanxiling oil production plant). On September 28, 1989, Xinsheng street of Xinglongtai District was established in Xinsheng farm of Panshan county.
On October 10, 2006, the State Council approved that the resident of Panshan county was moved from Shuangtaizi District of Panjin City to Taiping town.
In 2010, Chenjia town and Tianshui town were abolished and Chenjia town and Tianshui town were established; Lujia town and improved seed farm in Panshan county and Qianyao village, houyao village, Tongyi village and Dongdi village in Chenjia town were put under the management of Shuangtaizi District of Panjin City; Liaobin development zone was renamed LiaoBin Coastal Economic Zone.
