Yuzhou District is located in the southeast of Guangxi. It is the seat of Yulin people's government and the political, economic and cultural center of Yulin. Yuzhou District is the political, economic and cultural center of Yulin city.
Yuzhou District is adjacent to Wuzhou in the southeast, Guigang in the northwest, Beihai and Qinzhou in the West. 566 km away from Shenzhen and 420 km away from Guangzhou, it is the junction of South China and southwest China, and the most convenient channel to the sea from southwest to East. There are Li Zhan railway, Luo Zhan railway, Yu tie railway and 324 National Highway Passing through the area, and there are high-grade highways connecting with surrounding counties and cities.
The total area of the district is 464.3 square kilometers, of which the urban area is 68 square kilometers, with a population of 557000 (in 2004), of which 400000 are permanent residents.
In October 2018, it was selected into the "top 100 investment potential areas in China in 2018".
In December 2018, the Ministry of agriculture and rural areas identified it as the second batch of agricultural products with Chinese characteristics.
Historical evolution
In the pre Qin period, Yuzhou District belonged to Baiyue, where Luoyue, Xi'ou and other tribes lived.
In the 33rd year of the first emperor of Qin Dynasty (214 BC), it belonged to Guilin and Xiang counties. In the early Western Han Dynasty, it belonged to the South Yue State. In the sixth year of Yuanding (111 BC), it was located in Bushan county and Hepu County, belonging to the two counties of Jiaozhi history department.
Yulin County was established in the sixth year of Yuanding (111 BC) in the Western Han Dynasty, and it governed Bushan county (today's Guigang City). Yulin Prefecture was established in the third year of Lingde (666 AD) in the Tang Dynasty, and Tiecheng, Xingye County, was established in the prefecture. In 996 A.D., Nanliu county (now Yuzhou District) was established in Yulin Prefecture. The city was built on the Bank of Nanliu River. Yulin Prefecture was established in Yuan Dynasty and Ming Dynasty. During the reign of emperor Shunzhi in Qing Dynasty, Yulin Prefecture was separated from Wuzhou Prefecture and subordinate to Wuyu road in Guiping. In 1887, Yulin Prefecture was subordinate to Zuojiang road.
In the first year of the Republic of China, the Prefecture was promoted to the prefecture, and the county was abolished in the next year (the county was directly under the jurisdiction of the province); from 1914 to 1947, the region was successively subordinate to Yujiang Road, Cangwu Road, Yulin militia District, Wuzhou militia District, Yulin District, the Sixth District, the third district, Yulin special district, and the ninth district (Yulin District). After the founding of new China, Yulin administrative region was established in December 1949 and changed to Yulin District in January 1950. In July 1951, Yulin district and Wuzhou District merged to establish Rongxian district. In August 1958, Yulin district was established and renamed Yulin District in November 1971.
On April 22, 1997, Yulin district was abolished, and prefecture level Yulin city was established, with jurisdiction over Yuzhou District, Fumian administrative district and other districts and counties.
In 1996, Yulin covered an area of 2736 square kilometers with a population of about 1.44 million. It has jurisdiction over 20 towns and 10 townships: Yulin Town, Nanjiang Town, Chengxi Town, Mingshan Town, Chengbei Town, Maolin Town, Xinqiao Town, Shatian Town, Zhangmu Town, Fumian Town, Chengjun Town, Rendong Town, Dapingshan Town, Shinan Town, Kuiyang Town, Chenghuang Town, Shanxin Town, Shatang Town, PUTANG Town, Beishi Town, xiaopingshan Town, liquor selling Town, Datang Town, Luoyang Town, Gaofeng Town, Boai town and Tielian town Township, Renhou Township, Long'an Township, Shihe township. The municipal government is located in Yulin town.
On April 22, 1997, the State Council approved the abolition of Yulin prefecture level and county level Yulin City and the establishment of prefecture level Yulin city. The former county-level Yulin city is divided into Yuzhou District and Xingye County: Yuzhou District governs 12 towns of Yulin, Fumian, Nanjiang, Chengxi, Mingshan, Rendong, Zhangmu, Chengjun, Xinqiao, Chengbei, Maolin and Shatian, and 3 townships of Shihe, Renhou and Datang; Xingye County governs Shinan, Chenghuang, Dapingshan, PUTANG, Beishi and Kui The county government is located in Shinan town. Among them, there are 201721 in Yulin Town, 77813 in Nanjiang Town, 51516 in Chengxi Town, 45061 in Chengbei Town, 72220 in Mingshan Town, 51408 in Maolin Town, 49296 in Rendong Town, 69053 in Fumian Town, 64811 in Chengjun Town, 70497 in Zhangmu Town, 51823 in Xinqiao Town, 44758 in Shatian town, 24193 in Renhou Township, 19173 in Datang Township, and 24886 in Shihe township.
On June 20, 2000, the government of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region (GZH No. 127) agreed to change Renhou Township into a town system, with the original administrative region unchanged. On April 6, 2001, the government of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region (GZH No. 53) agreed to change Shihe Township into town system, and the original administrative region remained unchanged; on December 24, the government of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region (GZH No. 455) agreed to change Datang Township into town system, and the Administrative Region remained unchanged. After the adjustment, the region has jurisdiction over 15 towns.
In July 2003, Yulin town was abolished and Yucheng street was set up. On June 13, 2005, the government of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region (GZH No. 163) agreed to adjust the administrative divisions of some towns in Yuzhou District: abolish Nanjiang town and set up a sub district office, with the former administrative region of Nanjiang town as the jurisdiction of the sub district office; abolish Mingshan town and set up a sub district office, with the former administrative region of Mingshan town as the jurisdiction of the sub district office; abolish Chengxi town and set up a sub district office To set up a sub district office, the administrative region of the former Chengxi town shall be the jurisdiction of the sub district office; to abolish Chengbei town and change it into a sub district office, the administrative region of the former Chengbei town shall be the jurisdiction of the sub district office.
