Dadong District, subordinate to Shenyang City, Liaoning Province, is the central urban area of Shenyang City. It is located in the east of Shenyang City, adjacent to Qipanshan Development Zone in the East, surrounded by Shenhe District in the southeast, South and southwest, Huanggu District in the West and Shenbei New District in the north. Dadong District covers an area of 100 square kilometers, with a total population of 696400 and 10 streets under its jurisdiction.

In 2015, the GDP of Dadong District was 59.68 billion yuan, an increase of 0.89% over the same period of 2014. In December 2017, he was elected as one of the top 100 industrial counties in China. In November 2018, it was selected as one of the top 100 industrial districts in 2018.

Evolution of organizational system

In the early Qing Dynasty, after the brick city of Shenyang was changed from four gates to eight gates, the population in the city increased year by year, and the population continued to expand outside the city.

In 1680 (the 19th year of Emperor Kangxi of Qing Dynasty), the earth city was built around Shenyang City with eight side gates. The passage from zhuanchengmen to Bianmen formed "eight gates", and the eight banners of Qing Dynasty were in charge of the eight gates and eight gates area, forming "eight boundaries". Dadong District included dizai (Xiaobei) pass of Zhengbai banner, Fusheng (Dabei) pass of Zhenglan Banner, Neizhi (Xiaodong) pass of Zhenghong banner, Fujin (Dadong) pass of Xianghong banner and four areas outside the four border gates.

In 1905 (the 31st year of the reign of Emperor Guangxu of the Qing Dynasty), fengtianfu set up a general patrol bureau with seven branches in the city. Dadong District included Fujin (Dadong) pass and Neizhi (Xiaodong) pass under the jurisdiction of the third branch, Fusheng (Dabei) pass and dizai (Xiaobei) pass under the jurisdiction of the sixth branch.

Dadong District is located in the east of Shenyang City, adjacent to Qipanshan Development Zone in the East, surrounded by Shenhe District in the southeast, South and southwest, Huanggu District in the West and Shenbei New District in the north.

topographic features

Dadong District is located in the alluvial plain of Hunhe River. The terrain is high in the north and low in the south. According to the topographic map of Shenyang, the highest altitude of daertaizi in the northeast is 65 meters, and the lowest altitude of Xiaohe in the south is 44 meters, with the altitude difference of 21 meters.

Dadong District is located in Hunhe alluvial plain. Most of the geological structure is quaternary plain alluvium, which is composed of clay, sand and gravel. The surface soil consists of artificial soil and clay layer, and the river sand and clay layer below the surface soil layer. Because the northern part of the area was the old channel of Hunhe River in the early years, the soil is Sandy and soft.

Dadong District is located in the East and northeast of Shenyang City, in the north edge of the north temperate monsoon climate zone, which belongs to the temperate semi humid climate affected by the monsoon. The main characteristics of climate are: long cold winter, less snow, short rainy summer, rapid temperature change in spring and autumn, windy spring and sunny autumn. According to the accumulated data of the meteorological station from 1951 to 1981, the annual average maximum temperature in the city is 13.7 ℃, the annual average minimum temperature is 2.6 ℃, and the annual average temperature is 7.9 ℃. The average rainfall in the city is 734.5 mm, the maximum annual rainfall is 1055.3 mm (1953), and the minimum is 445 mm (1965). The average number of precipitation days over the years is 92.8 days, and the maximum daily rainfall is 215.4 mm (August 21, 1973). The frost period begins in early October and ends in late April, with an average of 210 days or so, and the frost free period is about 155 days or so.

In the total population, there are 19559 agricultural population and 676846 non-agricultural population. In 2012, the added value of the construction industry in the region reached 2.13 billion yuan, an increase of 3.3% over 2011. The total output value of construction industry of Enterprises above qualification level in the region reached 15.02 billion yuan, an increase of 19.8%.

In 2012, the total retail sales of social consumer goods in Dadong District reached 20.88 billion yuan, an increase of 17.1% over 2011. As of 2012, there are 19 middle schools in Dadong District, with 14527 students. There are 33 primary schools with 23196 students. The enrollment rate of school-age children was 100%, the enrollment rate of junior high school was 99.02%, and the enrollment rate of senior high school was 96.19%. Shenyang, where Dadong District is located, is one of the most developed areas in China, and also the largest transportation hub in Northeast China. The expressway network from Shenyang to Beijing, Dalian, Harbin, Fushun and Dandong has been built. It is 200 km away from Yingkou port and 400 km away from Dalian port. It can be navigable to ports of more than 140 countries and regions in the world. Connecting Shanhaiguan, Dalian, Dandong, Changchun, Harbin and other places, six railway trunk lines converge here, and are directly connected with North Korea, Mongolia and Russia. Shenyang Taoxian International Airport is the largest hub airport in Northeast China, 20 kilometers away from Dadong District.
