Founded on August 15, 1958, Molidawa Daur Autonomous Banner is one of the three autonomous banners of ethnic minorities in the region and the only Daur Autonomous Banner in China. It governs 11 towns, 4 townships (including two ethnic townships), with a total population of 340000. There are 17 ethnic groups in the whole banner, and the main ethnic group is Daur.
Mo banner is located in the easternmost part of Hulunbuir City, the middle part of the east foot of Daxinganling and the West Bank of Nenjiang River. It is 203.2 km long from north to South and 125 km long from east to west. It borders on Oroqen Autonomous Banner in the north, Arong Banner and Gannan County in Heilongjiang Province in the West and south, and Nehe city and Nenjiang County in Heilongjiang Province across the river in the East. It covers an area of about 11000 square kilometers.
In 1988, Moqi was awarded the title of "hometown of hockey" by the State Sports Commission; in 2002 and 2003, Moqi was successively rated as one of the most advanced and competitive counties in Western China by China's County Economic Evaluation Center. On August 15, 2018, Molidawa Daur Autonomous Banner celebrated its 60th anniversary.
On September 25, 2018, it won the honorary title of "2018 e-commerce into rural comprehensive demonstration county" of the Ministry of Commerce. The quality of National Farmers' cooperatives was improved, and the pilot units were promoted throughout the county. On March 4, 2020, the people's Government of the autonomous region agreed to withdraw from the poverty-stricken banner county sequence.
Evolution of organizational system
The Mori Dawa * Daur Autonomous Banner, a Shang, Zhou, Chunqiu and Warring States period, belonged to the life district of the Zhi family.
In Qin, Han and Three Kingdoms period, it was the territory of Fuyu people. In northern and Southern Dynasties, it was the residence of wuluohou people in Northern Wei Dynasty. In Sui and Tang Dynasty, it was Shiwei.
In Liao Dynasty, it belonged to Shangjing road and Dongjing road; in Jin Dynasty, it belonged to Shangjing road; in Yuan Dynasty, it belonged to Kaiyuan Road.
In the Ming Dynasty, it belonged to fuyuwei first, and then to nurgandu. In the 28th year of the reign of Emperor Kangxi of the Qing Dynasty (1689), Buteha was set up to manage the affairs of the region.
Guangxu 32 years (1906), Nenjiang as the boundary, divided into East and West butha, the flag for the West butha.
In the fourth year of the Republic of China (1915), the Buxi Administrative Bureau was set up in the West butha area. The office of the general manager and the Administrative Bureau coexisted, and the general manager was also in charge of government affairs. In 1925, the Buxi Administrative Bureau and the general office were moved to Nierji street.
In 1932, the puppet regime of Manchukuo was established, and Buxi was changed into Molidawa banner.
In January 1946, Buxi banner was set up under the jurisdiction of the second administration of Nenjiang province. In March of the same year, it was also renamed Molidawa banner, which was under the jurisdiction of Nawen Muren League.
In April 1949, Bayan banner was merged into Molidawa banner.
On August 15, 1958, with the approval of the State Council, the Molidawa Daur Autonomous Banner was established, realizing regional ethnic autonomy and under the jurisdiction of Hulunbuir League in Inner Mongolia.
In April 1969, it was under the leadership of Daxing'anling region of Heilongjiang Province.
In July 1979, it was put under the jurisdiction of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region and Hulunbuir city.
On March 4, 2020, the people's Government of the autonomous region agreed to withdraw from the poverty-stricken banner county sequence.
