Historical evolution
In the early Western Han Dynasty, it belonged to the queen court of Cheshi.
In the Western Han Dynasty, in the third year of shenjue (59th year), Xuandi was under the jurisdiction of Xuji Xiaowei, who was set up in Cheshi, the capital of the western regions.
During the Wei, Jin, southern and Northern Dynasties, it was the base of Xianbei, Rouran, Turks and other nomadic peoples.
In the Tang Dynasty, in the 14th year of Zhenguan (640), Tingzhou was set up at the northern foot of Tianshan Mountain, and the Luntai County under its jurisdiction was located in dapaocheng. The jingsai army under the beitingdu mansion is in Luntai.
In the Song Dynasty, it belonged to Gaochang state first, and then to the Western Liao Dynasty.
In the Yuan Dynasty, Luntai was under the jurisdiction of xuanweisi, who was located in Bishi Bali. At the end of the Yuan Dynasty, it was a nomadic area.
In the Ming Dynasty, it was successively occupied by Heshuote and erlut.
In the Qing Dynasty, in 1762, the Qing government built Jihuai city in the ancient pastoral area. The following year, Zhili Prefecture of Dihua was set up, and the ancient pastoral area was under the jurisdiction of the prefecture. In 1884, after the founding of Xinjiang Province, the ancient pastoral area belonged to Dihua county.
In 1921, a county assistant was set up and named Qiande. It is still a Dihua County Office.
In 1928, the county government of Qiande was formally established. The county government was stationed in sandaoba (now sandaoba town).
On November 20, 1953, it was renamed as "Miquan county". Therefore, diduoquan is also rich in rice, and the county government moved to gumudi (Modern and ancient Mudi town).
On December 30, 1996, with the approval of the State Council, Miquan county was abolished and Miquan city was established.
On June 30, 2007, Miquan city and Dongshan District of Urumqi city were abolished and Midong District of Urumqi city was established. The former administrative region of Miquan city and Dongshan District of Urumqi city was taken as the administrative region of Midong district.
On August 1, 2007, Midong district was officially established. The administrative area is 3407.42 square kilometers, and the urban built-up area is 40 square kilometers. It has jurisdiction over 5 towns, 2 townships and 6 streets, with a total population of 330000. The District People's government is located in Fuqian middle road.
In October 2007, Urumqi municipal government decided to put the renovation system of gejiagou village, shirenzigou village and laobagou village in Lucaogou township of Dongshan District under the jurisdiction of Shuimogou District (the area of Shuimogou District increased by 186 square kilometers).

Midong district is located in the Northeast suburb of Urumqi, 15 kilometers away from the downtown area of Urumqi. It is adjacent to Fukang City in the East, Changji City, Wujiaqu City and Urumqi county in the west, Dabancheng District of Urumqi City in the South and Fuhai County in the north.
