Huangzhong District Huangzhong district is a district under the jurisdiction of Xining City, Qinghai Province. It is located in the east of Qinghai Province, bordering Huangyuan County of Xining City in the west, and adjacent to Chengzhong District, Chengbei District, Chengxi district and Chengdong District in the south, North and East. Its geographical coordinates are 36 ° 13 ′ 32 ″ ~ 37 ° 03 ′ 19 ″ N and 101 ° 09 ′ 32 ″ ~ 101 ° 54 ′ 50 ″ e, covering a total area of 2700 square kilometers. As of 2018, Huangzhong district has jurisdiction over 1 Street, 10 towns and 5 townships, and another township level unit: Ganhe Industrial Park.
By the beginning of 2019, the permanent resident population of the whole region is 460100, which is a large population area in Qinghai. There are 13 ethnic minorities, including Hui, Tibetan, Tu and Meng.
In 2011, Huangzhong District achieved a GDP of 12.445 billion yuan, an increase of 18.7% over 2010. On September 20, 2019, the list of winners of the 2019 national poverty alleviation award was announced, and Huangzhong won the organization innovation award. In November, it was selected as the second batch of water-saving society construction standard areas. On December 6, it was selected as the pilot unit to promote the quality improvement of farmers' cooperatives in the whole county.
Evolution of organizational system
Before the Qin and Han Dynasties, Huangzhong was a place of Qiang army.
During the reign of Emperor Wu of the Western Han Dynasty, the Han army occupied the Huangshui River Valley and set up the Xiping Pavilion in Xining. Huangzhong was included in the territory of the central government since then. Since then, the Han Dynasty set up linqiang County in today's Huangyuan County, which was under the jurisdiction of Jincheng monarch.
At the end of the Eastern Han Dynasty, Xiping County was set up in the northeast of Qinghai Province, and xipingting was changed into Xidu County as the county governance. Most of Huangzhong now belongs to Xidu county.
During the Wei and Jin Dynasties, Linqiang county was transferred to the present Duoba town in Huangzhong. For a long time, Huangzhong area was under the jurisdiction of Xidu and linqiang counties.
In the Eastern Jin Dynasty and the northern and Southern Dynasties, Huangzhong, like the northeast of Qinghai, was successively under the rule of the local separatist regimes of Qianliang, Houliang, Nanliang, Xiqin and Beiliang.
In Sui Dynasty, Huangzhong was under the jurisdiction of Huangshui County, which is now Ledu County.
Shancheng county was set up in Xining in Tang Dynasty, and Huangzhong was under the jurisdiction of Shancheng county. At the end of the Tang Dynasty, the Huangshui River Basin was occupied by Tubo.
In the early Song Dynasty, the Huangshui River Basin was under the jurisdiction of the Tubo jiaosiluo regime. Later, Huangzhong was the land of Xining Prefecture in the Song Dynasty. Yiguo county was set up in the area of xujiazhai village, lushar town. Soon, Xining was occupied by Jin and Xia, and Huangzhong area was under the jurisdiction of Jin and Xining.
At the end of the Southern Song Dynasty, Xining returned to the Yuan Dynasty, and Huangzhong belonged to the Yuan Dynasty.
In the Ming Dynasty, Huangzhong belonged to Xining Wei. After the Ming Dynasty, a large number of Han and Hui people immigrated to the territory, gradually forming an area where Han, Hui, Tibetan and other nationalities lived together.
In the Qing Dynasty, it belonged to Xining county.

On June 23, 2020, the 29th meeting of the Standing Committee of the 16th People's Congress of Xining city passed the "decision on matters related to the withdrawal of Huangzhong County into districts". On July 16, the 27th meeting of the Standing Committee of the 16th People's Congress of Huangzhong County passed the "decision on matters related to the division of Huangzhong County into districts". On July 22, Huangzhong held a meeting to withdraw the county and set it up as a district. Since then, Huangzhong County has been renamed Huangzhong district.

Huangzhong region is the transition zone between the Northwest Loess Plateau and the Qinghai Tibet Plateau. It is a cool warm semi-arid region of the Qinghai Tibet Plateau. It is surrounded by mountains on three sides. Niangniang mountain is located in the northwest of the Qilian Mountain, and the Laji mountain ranges in the southwest. The terrain is relatively complex, with high in the south, West and North and slightly low in the southeast, with an altitude of 2225-4488 meters.

Huangshui River passes through the central part of the region from west to East. Fourteen rivers, such as dananchuan, xinachuan and yunguchuan, gather Huangshui River in a fan-shaped way from the mountain areas in the south, West and North.

The proven reserves of limestone are 122 million tons, including 98.8832 million tons in mendanxia mining area and 22.8173 million tons in shangxiamen mining area; the reserves of dolomite are 1982.3 million tons, including 14.823 million tons in mendanxia mining area and 5 million tons in xiaoshimen mining area; the reserves of silica are 8.4122 million tons; the reserves of Shengping magnesian clay mine are 28.9375 million tons; and the reserves of red clay rock in Ganhetan mining area are 8.3737 million tons.

In Huangzhong District, Qinghai Tibet railway, national highway 109, Xihuang first-class highway and Xijiu highway pass through the area. Xita Expressway goes directly to the county. 22 county and township highways crisscross the area, and all the villages are connected with oil roads.
