The main rivers are Nanpan River, Liulangdong River, kuamo River, Tuodi River, GuanZhai River, Buban River, Qingshui River, Nanqiu River, Qingshui River, Qingping River, Shikui River and Panlong River (maheng section), which belong to Xijiang River system of Pearl River Basin and Lujiang River system of Red River Basin. Puzhehei lake is a large natural lake with a water surface of 10.8 square kilometers. The highest elevation (Yangxiong peak) is 2501.8 meters, and the lowest elevation (Nongwei Village) is 782 meters.

The average annual precipitation of Qiubei County is 1183 mm. Most of the water systems in Qiubei County belong to the Pearl River Basin and Xijiang River system. Nanpan River is the boundary river and Qingshui River is the main dry river. There are 13 rivers in Qiubei County, with an annual runoff of 2 447.4 million cubic meters. The inflow of 350 million cubic meters of water from Yanshan to Nanqiu river is 2 797.4 million cubic meters. Qiubei County is rich in water resources. The theoretical reserves of water energy in Qiubei County is 264500 kW, and the exploitable capacity is 169000 kW, which is 64% of the theoretical reserves (excluding the main stream of Nanpanjiang River). In addition to surface water, there are abundant groundwater resources. The famous Yile, Shuitou, bailuo and Jiucheng springs are supplied by groundwater. The runoff area of Liulangdong underground river is about 1020 square kilometers, and the total recharge area is about 2280 square kilometers. In February 1960, the state built an underground hydropower station with an installed capacity of 25000 kilowatts here. The total installed capacity of the developed hydropower stations is 40100 kW, accounting for only 23.73% of the exploitable capacity. The exploitable hydropower stations are mainly concentrated in: Nanqiu River, Qingshui River, Qingshui River, GuanZhai River and budang river.
