Dujiangyan, or "Guan" for short, is directly under the central government of Sichuan Province and managed by Chengdu City. It is located at the mountain pass of Minjiang River on the northwest edge of Chengdu Plain and is named after Dujiangyan water conservancy project. The city borders Pengzhou City, Pidu district and Wenjiang District in the East, Wenchuan County in the West and North, and Chongzhou city in the south. The city is high in the northwest and low in the southeast, belonging to the middle subtropical humid zone of Sichuan Basin Moist monsoon climate zone. With a total area of 1208 square kilometers, the city governs 6 streets and 5 towns, and has a permanent resident population of 702800 in 2019.
Dujiangyan is a city with a history of more than 2000 years. It was built by weir and prospered by water. In the Neolithic age, Dujiangyan was an area where ancient Shu people lived together and was one of the birthplaces of ancient Shu. Dujiangyan City integrates mountains, water, forests, weirs and bridges, reflecting the layout characteristics of "water in the city, water in the city" and "water in the city is half of the city's mountain". Therefore, Dujiangyan City has the reputation of "worshiping water Dujiangyan and asking for Qingcheng Mountain". Dujiangyan Qingcheng Mountain was listed as a scenic spot in Western Sichuan during the period of the Republic of China. In November 2018, it was selected into the 2018 national "happy hundred counties list".

Historical evolution
King Huiwen of Qin destroyed Shu and returned to Shu county. The establishment of administrative districts began in Qin Dynasty, which is called Jiandi road.
In the Han Dynasty, jiandidao was promoted to a county.
In the Shu Han Dynasty, it was renamed Jian County, and soon changed to Du'an County, belonging to Wenshan County.
In the late Western Jin Dynasty, there were frequent wars, and the setting of administrative districts changed greatly. Liu Song, Wenshan County governance moved Guankou, jurisdiction Du'an, Yan Guan two counties.
Shu Han of the Three Kingdoms, renamed Jian County and Du'an County, belongs to Wenshan County.
In the Western Jin Dynasty, he moved his capital to Daojiang Village (today's Juyuan town), and set up Yanguan County in the old rule of Du'an (today's Guankou town).
In the period of Liu Song (the Southern Dynasty in the northern and Southern Dynasties), Wenshan County moved to Guankou and governed Du'an and Yanguan counties.
In 483, the first year of Yongming reign of Emperor Wudi of the Southern Qi Dynasty, Qiji county was set up in the west of Minjiang River in Dujiangyan City, Chongzhou city and Wenchuan County. It was under the jurisdiction of Wuli Village in Qingcheng and rural areas, and belonged to Wenshan County together with Du'an and Yanguan.

In the third year of the Northern Zhou Dynasty (568), Wenshan County was returned to power; Yanguan county was changed to Wenshan County, which still belonged to Wenshan County, and an County, the abandoned capital, entered PI. In the fourth year of Tianhe (569), Qiji county was abolished and changed into Qingcheng County, which belongs to Qianwei county.
Wenshan County was abandoned in the third year of Daye of Sui Dynasty (607), and it was incorporated into Pixian County (now Pidu District).
In 618, the first year of Wude in Tang Dynasty, a sedative army was set up at the former site of Wenshan County, and Panlong county was set up at the former site of Du'an. In the sixth year of Wude (623), Panlong county was changed to Daojiang County, belonging to Mengzhou, and Qingcheng county to Shuzhou. In 724, Qingcheng county was changed into Qingcheng county.
In the first year of Wucheng (908) of the former Shu Dynasty, the calming army was changed to Guanzhou, which governed Qingcheng and Daojiang counties.
In the fourth year of Qiande (966) of the Northern Song Dynasty, Guanzhou was changed into Yong'an army, still under the jurisdiction of Qingcheng and Daojiang counties. In 978, the Yongan army was changed to Yongning army, and soon it was changed to Yongkang army, with the county under its jurisdiction unchanged. In the fifth year of Xining (1072), Yongkang army was abolished as Yongkang village, and Daojiang was subordinate to Pengzhou, Qingcheng to Shuzhou. In 1086, the Yongkang army was restored, still under the jurisdiction of Qingcheng and Daojiang counties.
At the end of the Southern Song Dynasty, Yongkang army was abandoned as Guankou village.
In 1276, Guankou village was established as Guanzhou, and Qingcheng and Daojiang counties were abolished.
In the ninth year of Hongwu in Ming Dynasty (1376), Guanzhou was reduced to Guanxian. In 1377, Chongning county was removed from Guanxian county. In 1380, Chongning county was restored.
It was inherited in the Qing Dynasty and the Republic of China.
On January 19, 1950, Guanxian people's government was established.
In February 1959, Pixian County (now Pidu District of Chengdu City) was merged into Guanxian County, and in August it was divided into two parts.
In May 1988, with the approval of the State Council, Guanxian county was set up as a city and renamed Dujiangyan City.

In 2013, Zipingpu Town, Hongkou town and cuiyuehu town were abolished, the administrative areas of Zipingpu town and Hongkou town were put under the jurisdiction of Longchi Town, and the administrative areas of cuiyuehu town were put under the jurisdiction of Qingchengshan town. In December 2019, with the consent of Sichuan Provincial People's government, Zhongxing town and Yutang town will be abolished and Yutang Street will be established; xiang'e Township and Puyang town will be abolished and Puyang Street will be established; Yongfeng Street will be abolished; Xujia Town, Chongyi Town, LiuJie Town, Daguan town and Anlong town will be abolished.
