Evolution of organizational system
During the Xia, Shang and Zhou dynasties, the Baidi nationality established Xianyu state, which belongs to the western territory of Xianyu state. In 489 BC, the state of Jin destroyed Xianyu, belonging to Jin.
In the Warring States period, in 414 B.C., Xianyu was called "Zhongshan state", which was the territory of Zhongshan state. In 295 B.C., Zhao, Qi and Yan joined forces to destroy Zhongshan and became a dependency of Zhao state.
Qin unified the six states and changed the system of enfeoffment to county system. After the establishment of Julu County and Jingxing County, it has always been a dependency of Jingxing county (until the Xining period of Song Dynasty, the county seat has been set up in Tianhu village, the present mining area).
On October 11, 1937, the Japanese invaders invaded Jingxing. Jingxing county was divided into two counties, Lunan and Lubei, with Shitai railway as the boundary. The mining area is under the jurisdiction of Lubei county.

On May 15, 1958, Jingxing county was under the jurisdiction of Shijiazhuang city. The mining area and Jingxing county were merged into Jingxing County, which was under the jurisdiction of Jingxing county.
On November 29, 1958, with the approval of the State Council, Jingxing county was abolished and Jingxing District of Shijiazhuang city was established under the jurisdiction of Shijiazhuang city.
In March 1960, Jingxing county was restored and separated from Shijiazhuang City, which is under the jurisdiction of Shijiazhuang district.
In May 1960, the mining area was separated from Jingxing county and merged with Jingxing Mining Bureau to establish Jingxing coal mining people's commune, which is under the jurisdiction of Shijiazhuang city.
In May 1963, the people's commune of Jingxing coal mine was abolished, and the government and enterprise of the mining area and the Mining Bureau were separated, which was under the jurisdiction of Shijiazhuang city.
On December 8, 1989, with the approval of the State Council, Jingxing mining area was cancelled and put under the jurisdiction of Jingxing county. (however, it has not been merged in practice and still operates according to the original organizational system)
On October 5, 1990, the CPC Shijiazhuang Municipal Committee and the Shijiazhuang Municipal People's government announced that the mining area would return to the original system and be under the jurisdiction of Shijiazhuang city.

The basin is one of the representative basins in Taihang mountain area, which is formed by the collapse of Yanshanian and Himalayan faults, surrounded by Ordovician limestone low mountains or hills and covered by Quaternary loess in the middle. The basin is about 25 km long from north to South and 10 km wide from east to west. Fenghuangling anticline crosses the middle of the basin and divides the basin into North and south parts. The mining area is located in the north with Hengjian as the center. The terrain of the mining area is high in the West and low in the East. The section from Hengjian cement plant to fengjiagou of Pingshe road is a north-south gully in the basin, which gradually rises westward.
