Pingchang originated from Pingzhou County in the Western Jin Dynasty. It was renamed Tongchang County in the Northern Zhou Dynasty and Pingchang County in the Republic of China. Historical evolution
In the first year of Taikang in the Western Jin Dynasty (280), Pingzhou county was set up, belonging to Brazil County, where the Han King Temple (now Longtan Village, Jiangkou Town) was established. It was successively subordinate to Brazil County, Dagu county and Suining County.
In the fourth year of Baoding in the Northern Zhou Dynasty (564), Tongchang county was renamed as Suining County.
In 583, it was changed to Qinghua County, and in 589, it was renamed Guiren county.

In the early Yuan Dynasty, it was transferred to Baoning Prefecture; in the 20th year of the Yuan Dynasty (1283), it was incorporated into Langzhong county.
There was no County in Ming Dynasty, which was subordinate to Bazhou.
In 1729, the seventh year of Yongzheng reign of Qing Dynasty, Jiangkou was divided into prefectures, which were subordinate to Bazhou.
In the second year of the Republic of China (1913), Bazhou changed its name to Bazhong County, and then the Prefecture was renamed Jiangkou county. In June 1933, the Sichuan Shaanxi Soviet established Jiangkou county. After the withdrawal of the Red Army in 1935, the situation returned to the old system and belonged to Bazhong county.
