Gucheng County, under Hengshui City, Hebei Province, is located in the southeast of Hebei Province, at the junction of Hebei Province and Shandong Province. Historical evolution
In Xia, Shang and Western Zhou dynasties, Yanzhou was the place of Gucheng County.
During the spring and Autumn period and the Warring States period, Gucheng County successively belonged to Dongyang of Jin State, Xiyang of Qi State, cuoshou of Yan state and Dongwu city of Zhao state.
In Qin Dynasty, Gucheng County belonged to Julu County.
In the Western Han Dynasty, county and kingdom were both high-level administrative divisions. The southern part of Gucheng County belongs to Dongyang County, Fuyang county and dongwucheng County of Qinghe County of Jizhou governor department, and the northern part belongs to Guangchuan county and Li county of Xindu county.

In the Five Dynasties, today's Gucheng County was under the jurisdiction of five states, namely, the Later Liang Dynasty, the later Tang Dynasty, the later Jin Dynasty, the later Han Dynasty and the Later Zhou Dynasty.
In 1264, the fifth year of JINGDING in the Southern Song Dynasty, Gucheng County was set up in the north of Gucheng County, and the county administration was set up in Zhangnan "Gucheng". Gucheng County was named Gucheng County, belonging to Jingzhou, Hejian Road, Zhongshu Province, Zhili. The next year, the old town was abandoned.

In the third year of the Republic of China (1914), Gucheng County belonged to daowucheng County in the east of Shandong Province in the south, and jinhaidao Gucheng County in Zhili Province in the north. In the 14th year of the Republic of China, the Eastern Road was changed to Delin Road, and the Southern Road belonged to it.
In 1937, the national government of Shandong Province set up 12 administrative regions. In the south of Gucheng County, it belonged to Wucheng County, the fourth Office of the Commissioner of administrative supervision. In the same year, the national government of Hebei Province set up 10 administrative regions, and in the north, it belonged to Wucheng County, the eighth Office of the Commissioner of administrative supervision.
In July 1945, the old city was liberated.
In March of 1946, the administrative office of Southern Hebei was re established. The north and south parts belong to Wucheng county and Gucheng County, the second special area of the administrative office of Southern Hebei.
On August 11, 1949, the people's Government of Henan Province was established. The South and the north belong to Wucheng county and Gucheng County respectively.
In 1952, Hengshui district was withdrawn, and the South and North belonged to Wucheng County, Dezhou District, Shandong Province, and Gucheng County, Cangzhou District, Hebei Province.
In 1956, Dezhou district was withdrawn, and the South and North belonged to Wucheng County, Liaocheng district, Shandong Province, and Gucheng County, Cangzhou District, Hebei Province.
In October 1958, Gucheng County entered Wuqiao county and Wucheng County entered Xiajin County. The South and north of Gucheng County belong to Xiajin County in Liaocheng area of Shandong Province and Wuqiao County in Tianjin city of Hebei Province.
On May 18, 1961, Cangzhou district and Gucheng County were restored, Dezhou district and Wucheng county were restored, and the South and the North belonged to Wucheng County of Dezhou district and Gucheng County of Cangzhou district respectively.
In 1964, Gucheng County, in accordance with the regulations of the administrative division adjustment of the State Council, took the canal as the boundary, and classified the western part of the canal of Wucheng County as Gucheng County, while the southern part of the canal originally belonged to Gucheng County as Wucheng County, so the administrative region of Gucheng County was fixed.
