geographical environment
Location context
Liangping district is located in the parallel gorge area in the east of envelope basin, between 107 ° 24 ′ - 108 ° 05 ′ E and 30 ° 25 ′ - 30 ° 53 ′ n, crossing 52.1 km from east to west and 60.35 km from north to south. It is adjacent to Wanzhou District in the East, Zhongxian County and Dianjiang County in the south, Dazhu County in Dazhou City, Sichuan Province in the west, Dachuan district and Kaijiang County in Dazhou City, Sichuan Province in the north, covering an area of 1892.13 square kilometers.
topographic features
Due to the control of geological structure, stratigraphic distribution and lithology, as well as the influence of hydrological process, Liangping landform presents the natural landscape of "three mountains and five mountains, two troughs and one dam, rolling hills and six water flowing out", forming a special landform with mountains, hills and dams and mainly mountainous areas. There are Dongshan, Xishan and Zhongshan in the territory, all of which are in the Northeast trend, arranged in parallel and not connected with each other. The mountainous area is 500-1221 meters above sea level, covering an area of 606.5 square kilometers, accounting for 32% of the total area of the region.
Dongshan (Huangnitang anticline) and Xishan (mingyuexia anticline) are long and narrow troughs (Chengnan troughs in Dongshan and Baili troughs in Xishan) because the limestone of Jialingjiang formation exposed on the top of the mountain is eroded by water, and the sandstone of Xujiahe Formation on both sides of the mountain is the ridge of Lingxia, so they are of "one mountain, two ridges and one trough" type. The Jialingjiang limestone is not exposed at the top of Zhongshan (NANMENCHANG anticline) and there is no dissolution phenomenon. It still maintains the "one mountain, one mountain" type. There are many undulating hills between the "three mountains", with deep hills in the southeast and northeast and shallow hills in the middle and northwest. It covers an area of 1184.9 square kilometers, accounting for 62.9% of the total area of the region.
In the central part of the territory, between the East and West Mountains, there is a flat and open area of 100.73 square kilometers, which is called the first dam of Bayu (the first dam of East Sichuan), namely liangpingbazi. The terrain of the territory is higher than that of neighboring counties. Gaotan River, Bosheng River, Xinsheng River, Puli River, Ruxi River and Huangjin River are six main rivers, which bypass between flat and shallow hills. The riverbed is narrow and flows into Wanzhou, Zhongxian, Dianjiang, Kaijiang and Dachuan districts and counties respectively.
