Yanshan District, located in the northeast of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, is adjacent to Qixing district and Lingchuan County in the East, Huixian town in Lingui District in the west, Putao town and Yangdi Township in Yangshuo County in the south, Liutang town in Lingui District in the southwest, Xiangshan district and Qixing District in the north and Xiangshan District in the northwest, with a total area of 302.05 square kilometers. By the end of 2019, the total population of Yanshan district is about 150000, including 69300 university teachers and students; it governs one street, two towns and two townships, and the district government is located at No. 18, Yanzhong Road, Yanshan town.
In Xia, Shang and Zhou dynasties, Yanshan district was the residence of Baiyue people. During the spring and Autumn period and the Warring States period, it belonged to the state of Chu. In December 1996, with the approval of the State Council, Guilin city adjusted its district division, and the suburb of Guilin city was renamed Yanshan district. There are Lijiang River shuttle detour, Guilin to Yangshuo tourism channel through the territory, Guilin Liuzhou, Guiwu Expressway intersection in the area.
In 2018, the Gross Regional Product of Yanshan district was 2.806 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 6.8%. In 2019, the GDP of Yanshan district increased by 6.2% year on year; the per capita disposable income of urban residents was 35213 yuan, an increase of 6.8%; the per capita disposable income of rural residents was 15118 yuan, an increase of 10.6%.
History of construction
In Xia, Shang and Zhou dynasties, Yanshan district was the residence of Baiyue people.
During the spring and Autumn period and the Warring States period, it belonged to the state of Chu.

In the sixth year of Yuanding (111 BC), Shi'an county was set up here, belonging to Lingling County of Jingzhou.
Tang, song, yuan, Ming and Qing Dynasties, all belong to Lingui county.
In the 29th year of Daoguang reign of the Qing Dynasty (1849), it belonged to Dongxiang and Nanxiang of Lingui County, Guilin Prefecture, Cangwu Prefecture, Guangxi Province; in the second year of Xuantong reign of the Qing Dynasty (1910), it belonged to Liangfeng Township, Dabu Township, Dawu Township and Taisha township of Lingui County, Guilin Prefecture, Guangxi Province; in November of the third year of Xuantong reign of the Qing Dynasty (1911), it belonged to Lingui County, Guilin Prefecture, Guangxi provincial military government.
In December of the first year of the Republic of China (1912), Lingui county was abolished and belonged to Guilin Prefecture of Lijiang road of Guangxi provincial military government; in December of the second year of the Republic of China (1913), it belonged to Guilin County of Lijiang road of Guangxi Province; in June of the third year of the Republic of China (1914), it belonged to Guilin County of Guangxi Province; in November of the 16th year of the Republic of China (1927), it belonged to Guilin County of Guangxi Province; in 1930, it belonged to Guilin County of Guangxi Province In 1932, it belonged to dongfuguo Township, Taisha Township, Liangfeng District, Caoping Township and zhemu township of Guilin County; in 1934, it belonged to Guilin administrative supervision district of Guangxi Province; in January 1940, Guilin county was abolished, Guilin city was established, and Lingui county was restored Taisha Township, zhemu Township, dongfuguo Township, Liangfeng Township, Dabu Township and Caoping township of Lingui County in Guilin city; in 1942, the present district belongs to Zhetai District, dongfuguo District, Liangfeng Township, Dabu Township and Caoping township of Lingui county.
On October 1, 1949, the people's Republic of China was founded; on November 22, 1949, Guilin city and Lingui County followed the old system when they were liberated; on December 18, 1949, the districts were divided into southern suburb, eastern suburb and Lingui County of Guilin city; on December 28, 1949, the Party committee and people's Government of Lingui County moved to Liangfeng and later to Yanshan.
In April 1950, the eastern, southern, Western and northern suburbs of Guilin were abolished. The present district is divided into Dawu District, Longmen District, zhemu district and Liangfeng District of Lingui County; in October of the same year, the present district is divided into the first district (Dawu), the second district (zhemu), the ninth district (Liangfeng) and the Tenth District (Liutang) of Lingui County.
In April 1952, the suburb of Guilin city was restored; in September of the same year, the present district is divided into the southern suburb of Guilin City, the first district, the ninth district and the Tenth District of Lingui county.

In June 1956, the present district belongs to the suburb of Guilin City, Dawu District of Lingui county and Yanshan district.

In June 1979, the suburb of Guilin city was abolished. The present district is under the jurisdiction of Yanshan people's commune, Dabu people's commune, zhemu people's Commune and Dawu people's commune of Lingchuan County.
On May 7, 1981, the potential economic brigade and lawn brigade of Dawu people's commune in Lingchuan County were assigned to Guilin city; in July of the same year, the lawn people's commune in the suburb of Guilin city was established.
In May 1984, the suburb of Guilin city was restored; from July to September of the same year, the commune was changed into a township; on September 29 of the same year, Caoping Hui Township was established, and now it belongs to Yanshan Town, zhemu Town, Dabu Township and Caoping Hui Township in the suburb of Guilin city.
At the end of 1996, before the adjustment of administrative divisions, the suburb of Guilin was located around the city.
On December 2, 1996, with the approval of the State Council, the suburb of Guilin city was renamed as Yanshan District, and the administrative division of Guilin municipal district was adjusted accordingly; Qingfeng Village in Dahe Township and Chuanshan Township, the former suburb, was put under the jurisdiction of Diecai District. Jiashan Township, the former suburb, was put under the jurisdiction of Xiufeng District. The two villages of Ertang Township, Tongxin and Pingshan in zhemu town and Anxin village in Chuanshan Township were put under the jurisdiction of Xiangshan district.

The Yanshan area is a central basin in the clinoform, and the stratigraphic development from bottom to top is as follows: Paleozoic Lower Devonian, Middle Devonian, Upper Devonian and lower Carboniferous; Mesozoic Upper Triassic and Upper Cretaceous; Cenozoic tertiary and Quaternary. The most widely distributed strata are Devonian and Carboniferous carbonate rocks. The geological structure line of the area is mainly in the direction of near south-north-east.

There are many mountains and hills in Yanshan District, which is a typical karst area. Taking Yanshan as the center, there are 200 meters of hills in the south, West and North. There is a plain in the northeast corner, and the front is along the West Bank of Lijiang River, which is a rocky mountain area. The highest peak is 451 meters above sea level. Taking zhemu town as the center, it extends southward to Yanshan and Dabu, forming a broad valley plate. The basin is surrounded by dense karst peak forest, and the karst peak forest in the southeast is the most typical karst landform of Guilin. In the middle of the basin, the terrain is relatively flat, with paddy fields, dry land, hills, rivers, reservoirs and ponds distributed among them. The terrain is mostly flat, accounting for 57.6%, and the rest is mostly hilly and sloping land.
Mountain water system
Yanshan district is located in Guilin Karst basin with Yuechengling in the north, jianqiaoling in the South and Haiyangshan in the West. The ground elevation is 140-160 meters. The relative height of the mountain ranges is 400-500 meters, with a height of several tens of meters. The high lawn is located in duima mountain in Hui nationality township, with an altitude of 710 meters. The famous mountains in the area include Yanshan, Qifeng mountain (also known as Dongshan), ruzhong mountain, Fangzhu mountain, Jinlong mountain (also known as Foshan), Matou Mountain, Longtou mountain, Guanmao mountain, Wangfu mountain, miaoyan mountain, father and son mountain, etc. The karst area is developed, with dense caves and many caves.
