Huaxi District is subordinate to Guiyang City, Guizhou Province. It is located in the hinterland of Central Guizhou, in the south of Guiyang City, adjacent to Longli County of Qiannan Prefecture in the East, Gui'an New District in the west, Huishui county and Changshun County of Qiannan Prefecture in the south, Nanming District and guanshanhu District in the north. Huaxi District governs 4 towns, 5 townships, 8 streets, 122 villages and 52 neighborhood committees. The total land area of Huaxi District is 964.14 square kilometers. By the end of 2019, the permanent resident population of Huaxi District will be 727000, with 40 ethnic groups including Han, Miao and Buyi.
Huaxi District, known as the "Pearl of the plateau", is a famous scenic spot. In 2010, it was selected as one of the top ten influential scenic spots in Guizhou.
There are dozens of Huaxi flavor snacks. The most famous ones are Huaxi "feiwan" and "Wangji" beef powder, Qingyan stewed pig's feet, chicken peppers, pastry porridge, rice tofu, Cili glutinous rice wine, etc.
In March 2020, it won the title of national advanced county of village cleaning action, and was praised by the central agricultural office and the Ministry of agriculture and rural areas.
Historical evolution
Today, Huaxi District is under the jurisdiction of the state from the Western Zhou Dynasty to the spring and Autumn period, Qielan County in the Qin Dynasty, county in the Han Dynasty, Jinle County in the Eastern Jin Dynasty, Juzhou in the Tang and Song Dynasties, Bafan xuanweisi, Shunyuan xuanweisi and zhongcao Baina in the Yuan Dynasty. In the fourth year of Hongwu in Ming Dynasty (1371), Xuanwei envoy Department of Guizhou was set up. The two families of an and song were appointed as principal and Deputy envoys respectively. Today, Huaxi District is under the command of Song family (Deputy Secretary), and later under Guizhou Wei and Guiyang government. Wanli fourteen years (1586) home Xingui County, Huaxi District is Xingui County, Guiyang Prefecture. In 1687, Guizhu county was established in the 26th year of Kangxi reign of Qing Dynasty. The county office was located in the southwest corner of Guiyang city. The original jurisdiction of Xingui county was Guizhu county. In 1914, Guiyang Prefecture was abolished and Guiyang County was established. Guizhu County Office was moved to Xifeng City and renamed Xifeng County. Huaxi county was changed to Guiyang County. In 1941, Guiyang was set up as a city and Guizhu county was set up on the outskirts of the city. In July 1942, the county government moved from Shifu Road to the south foot of Panlong mountain on the North Bank of Huaxi, and governed the present Huaxi District, Baiyun District, Wudang district and guanshanhu district. Guizhu County governed Huaxi until February 1958.
In November 1949, Guizhu county was subordinate to Guiyang special office. In July 1952, Guiyang special office was moved from Huaxi to Guiding County. Guizhu county is under the exclusive jurisdiction of guiding. In 1956, the guiding special office was abolished, and Anshun special office was set up. Guizhu county is under the jurisdiction of Anshun special office, with 7 districts and 40 townships under its jurisdiction. In October of the same year, Gaopo Miao Autonomous Region was assigned to Huishui County, Qiannan Prefecture.
In February 1958, Guizhu county was abolished, and all the towns under its jurisdiction were assigned to Guiyang City, which was divided by Guizhou Yunnan and Guizhou Guangxi highways in the original suburbs. Huaxi District was set in the south of the highway, and Wudang district was set in the north. Huaxi District has jurisdiction over 2 towns and 23 townships, which were adjusted to 2 towns and 13 townships in July, and 12 people's communes were formed in September, which are called Management Committee. In January 1959, 12 people's communes were merged into four large communes: Huaxi, Qingyan, Shiban and mengguan.
In 1961, Gaopo people's commune was zoned back to Huaxi District from Huishui county. Four people's communes disintegrated and were restored to 13 people's communes: Qingyan, Yanlou, Maling, Shiban, HuChao, Maiping, Jiu'An, Huaxi, Dangwu, zhongcao, mengguan, Xiaobi and Qiantao. Qingyan Town and Huaxi town were separated from the people's commune to restore the town system. In June 1966, 13 people's communes and two towns formed four people's commune associations, namely Huaxi Association, Shiban Association, Qingyan Association and Xiaohe Association. In August 1966, Huaxi and Wudang districts were established as suburbs of Guiyang City, known as suburban people's Committee. In February 1967, the rebels seized power and restored the organizational system of Huaxi District, 14 communes and two towns, known as the revolutionary committees of the districts, communes and towns. From 1981 to 1984, the District, commune and town revolutionary committees were gradually transformed into District, township and Town People's governments.
In 1993, Xiaohe Town was under the jurisdiction of Guiyang Xiaohe economic and Technological Development Zone. In 2000, Jinzhu town was assigned to Xiaohe District, and Huaxi District had jurisdiction over 3 towns, 11 townships, 165 administrative villages and 19 neighborhood committees. In 2005, Huaxi District removed some townships to build offices, abolished the original Huaxi town and Huaxi Township, and built three offices, namely Guizhu, Xibei and Qingxi. So far, Huaxi District has jurisdiction over two towns, 10 townships and three offices. In the same year, Xiaobi township of Huaxi District was assigned to Nanming District. Huaxi District had 2 towns, 9 townships, 3 offices and 151 administrative villages. In 2012, the office was removed to build new communities, three offices were canceled, and five new communities were built, including Guizhu, Qingxi, Xibei, Yangguang and Mingzhu. In the same year, Xiaohe district was abolished and merged with Huaxi District to establish xinhuaxi District, which governs 2 towns, 9 townships, 18 communities, 151 villages and 52 neighborhood committees.
In December 2013, Dangwu town and HuChao Buyi and Miao Township were entrusted to Gui'an New District (the administrative division is still Huaxi District), which governs 2 towns, 7 townships and 18 communities. In September 2014, Yanlou and Maiping townships were removed to build towns. Huaxi District has jurisdiction over 4 towns, 5 townships, 18 communities, 122 villages and 52 neighborhood committees.
In January 2020, 18 community service centers including sunshine, Guizhu, Mingzhu, Xibei, Qingxi, Huameng, Xiaomeng, aviation, Sanjiang, aerospace, Xinglong, Ruihua, Qingpu, Huanghe, Qianjiang, Pingqiao, Jinzhu and Jinxin will be abolished, and 8 sub district offices including Guizhu, sunshine, Qingxi, Xibei, Huanghe Road, Pingqiao, Xiaomeng and Jinzhu will be set up.
