In the Eastern Jin Dynasty, it belonged to Xinle county and Youping county. In the Southern Song Dynasty, it belonged to Anhuai county and Huaian County respectively. After 589, it was called Guishan county. The state, county, road and government were all located in the county.
After the first year of the Republic of China (1912), Huizhou government was abolished, and Huizhou government and Guishan county were merged into Huiyang County, which was under the jurisdiction of chaoxun, the fourth administrative supervision district and the fifth administrative supervision district.
During the Anti Japanese War, it was divided into Ludong county and Huidong County.
In 1949, it was divided into Huiyang and Huidong counties.
In December 1949, Huiyang and Huidong merged into Huiyang County, and the county office moved to Danshui.
