Huayuan County Huayuan County, subordinate to Xiangxi Tujia and Miao Autonomous Prefecture of Hunan Province, is located in the west of Hunan Province, in the middle of Wuling mountains and at the junction of Hunan, Guizhou and Chongqing. It is called "one foot on three provinces" and "the southwest gateway of Hunan and Chu". Evolution of organizational system

In the first year of Hongwu (1368), Chongshan was set up in the old city (now the old acropolis of Jiwei town), and Chongshan qianhusuo was set up instead of Wei. The county-level system of Huayuan County began in 1397, the 30th year of Hongwu in the Ming Dynasty. It set up thousands of military and civilian households in Zhenxi, and divided Zhenxi Chongshan 124 village into ten li. From the boundary of Gaoyan River, the lower four Li is now Jishou, and the upper six li is now Huayuan County, formerly known as "Liuli miaodi".

In 1730, Liuli Tongzhi was set up. In the 10th year of Yongzheng period, Liuli was changed into yongsui hall to govern Jiwei and jiduoping. In 1797, yongsui hall was upgraded to Zhili hall. Jiaqing seven years, the Department of governance moved Huayuan (now the county).

In the first year of the Republic of China (1912), Zhili hall was changed into the administrative department. The next year, yongsui hall was changed to yongsui County, belonging to Chenyuan road. In the 24th year of the Republic of China, it belonged to the Department of appeasement in Western Hunan. In the 25th year of the Republic of China, it was the fourth administrative supervision district of Hunan Province. In the 29th year of the Republic of China, it was the ninth administrative supervision district.

In November 1949, the people's Government of the county was established to govern Huayuan. It belongs to Yuanling Prefecture and was changed to Xiangxi Miao Autonomous Region in 1952. In September 1953, yongsui county was renamed Huayuan County. The jurisdiction and the governing place remain unchanged. In 1955, it belonged to Xiangxi Miao Autonomous Prefecture. In 1957, it belonged to the Tujia and Miao Autonomous Prefecture of Western Hunan.

In 1996, Huayuan County covers an area of 1108.69 square kilometers, with a population of about 257000. The Miao nationality accounts for 89% of the total population. It has jurisdiction over 7 towns and 14 townships: Huayuan Town, CHADONG Town, Tuanjie Town, Minle Town, Longtan Town, Jiwei Town, malichang Town, Changle Township, WoShao Township, yayou Township, yaqiao Township, paibi Township, Maoer Township, Pailiao Township, buchou Township, paiwu Township, Lianghe Township, Daoer Township, dongmaku Township, daheping Township and DALONGDONG township. The county government is located in Huayuan town.

According to the fifth census in 2000, there are 253750 permanent residents in Huayuan County, including 51110 in Huayuan Town, 14040 in CHADONG Town, 12845 in Longtan Town, 12162 in Minle Town, 18304 in Tuanjie Town, 14715 in Jiwei Town, 14208 in malichang Town, 12329 in Changle Township, 6587 in daheping Township, 6887 in yayou Township, 7517 in yaqiao Township, 8717 in paibi Township, 9632 in dongmaku Township and Maoer township 12730, WoShao Township 9345, buchou Township 8932, Daoer Township 8553, paiwu Township 7785, pailiu Township 5627, Lianghe Township 8900, DALONGDONG Township 2825.

In 2004, Huayuan County governed 8 towns and 13 townships: Huayuan Town, CHADONG Town, Longtan Town, Minle Town, Tuanjie Town, Jiwei Town, malichang Town, yayou Town, Changle Town, daheping Town, Lianghe Town, DALONGDONG Town, paibi Town, dongmaku Town, Maoer Town, WoShao Town, buchou Town, Daoer Town, paiwu Town, Pailiao town and yaqiao town.

In 2005, Huayuan County adjusted the township administrative division: four townships and two towns were merged to establish one township and two towns, and one town was renamed to reduce three townships. The specific adjustments are as follows: Chadong town was renamed as Bian town; DALONGDONG Township and buchou Township were merged to set up buchou Township and township government was stationed in Dashao; daheping Township and Bian town were merged to set up Bian town and township government was stationed in Xiaoqiao; WoShao Township and Huayuan town were merged to set up Huayuan town and township government was stationed in Denggao building. After the adjustment, Huayuan County governs 8 towns and 10 townships: Longtan Town, Minle Town, Tuanjie Town, Jiwei Town, malichang Town, yayou Town, Biancheng Town, Huayuan Town, Changle Town, Lianghe Town, paibi Town, dongmaku Town, Maoer Town, Daoer Town, paiwu Town, Pailiao Town, yaqiao town and buchou town.

Longtan town has two neighborhood committees, Longtan and Mahuangtang, and 16 village committees, namely, land, DouWang, Longmen, wotuo, Gantang, feihuapu, Jiaonong, Limei, Guchi, Longtan, Daping, Caoping, Jinrong, Bantang, Huangla and Zhangma.

Minle town has two neighborhood committees, yunpan and Zhongjie, and 12 village committees, Minle, Tianjia, Shuitian, Xiangshui, Jiajia, gushao, dongzha, shangchaoshui, xiachaoshui, maohao, Xinshui and Bawu.

Tuanjie town has two neighborhood committees, namely Xinlu and Laojie; 19 village committees, namely Changxin, louna, Yongfeng, Banpo, yunpan, Jichang, Shuitian, Zhongzhai, Taiping, yangshuiping, ABI, laoyatang, Longbao, yanbatang, Yangjiazhai, xiawashui, madouzi, LAOWANGZHAI and Tongmu.

Jiwei town governs meihuajing and Weicheng two neighborhood committees; paizuo, paidaba, Layi, Shuishui, Xinzhai, laoweicheng, Jiwei, Jisi, Dalao Pai, tamping Lai, RULA, Geteng, Liangmao, Guoshui, luosidong, Gu Niu, Hulu, Baiguo, Shuiyang and baiyanping 20 village committees.

Malichang town has jurisdiction over the neighborhood committee of malichang town; 18 village committees are Huangtupo, Liudou, Shapingba, guangche, paidalu, malichang, shake, Laozhai, Lixin, Penghu, denggaoping, wanggaopo, geyu, Xinqiao, Jianyan, Xinke, Jinniu and Yanba.

In 2015, according to the township division adjustment plan of Huayuan County, Huayuan County reduced 6 Township systems, and now has jurisdiction over 9 towns of Huayuan, Biancheng, Jiwei, Longtan, Minle, malichang, yayou, Shuanglong and Shilan; and 3 townships of Changle, Maoer and buchou, with a total area of 1108.69 square kilometers and a total population of 309000. The name of Huayuan town in the county people's government remains unchanged.
