Dong'an County, a county under the jurisdiction of Yongzhou City, Hunan Province, is located in the southwest of Hunan Province and the upper reaches of Xiangjiang River. The terrain is high in the northwest and low in the southeast. It belongs to the subtropical monsoon humid climate zone with four distinct seasons. During the spring and Autumn period and the Warring States period, Dong'an was in the south of Chu. Yingyang county was established in the Western Jin Dynasty (290), and Dong'an County was established in the Northern Song Dynasty (984). Dong'an is also one of the first batch of "hometown of martial arts" in China.

The origin of place names
Yingyang county was set up in the first year of Yongxi (290) in the Western Jin Dynasty. It was named because the county (now LuHong town in Dong'an) is located in the north of Yingshui, which is the beginning of the establishment of Dongan County. In Sui Dynasty, Yingyang was incorporated into Lingling county. In the first year of Yongxi of Song Dynasty (984), the county was restored and named Dong'an according to the idea of peace in the East.
Evolution of organizational system
During the spring and Autumn period and the Warring States period, the territory belonged to the south of Chu. In Qin Dynasty, it belonged to Changsha County.
In the sixth year of Yuanding (111 B.C.) of Emperor Wu of Han Dynasty, the territory belonged to Taoyang County, Lingling county.

In 290, the first year of Yongxi reign of emperor Hui of the Western Jin Dynasty, Guanyang County of Lingling was set up as Yingyang County, which was subordinate to Lingling county. The county was first built in Jingyu, the predecessor of Dongan County. "Shuijingzhu" says: Yingyang county "Gai should be named after water".
In 420, the first year of Yongchu reign of Emperor Wu of Song Dynasty, Yingyang county was changed into Yingyang male state.
In 573, Emperor Chen Xuan of the Southern Dynasty changed the male state into a son state.
In 586, Yingyang was changed into a duchy, still belonging to Lingling county.
In 589, Emperor Wen of Sui Dynasty, Yingyang county was also called Lingling county.

Shiqi River, also known as Dongxiang River, is a tributary of Xiangjiang River, which is formed by the confluence of Dashi River and Mazi river. Dashi river originates from the valley of Guanyang in Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. Mazi river originates from huangladong, Dongshan Yao Autonomous Township, Quanzhou County, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. The two tributaries join at the two estuaries, pass through Dongxiang bridge, enter Dong'an County at the Lower East of Lingling, and enter Xiang River at Shiqi town. The ancient name of luhongjiang river is Yingshui, a tributary of Xiangjiang River. The main trunk originates from the east foot of Huanghua, the watershed between Dongan and Shaoyang counties, namely limuchong in Dasheng Town, Dongan County. It passes through Xinwei River, wujiaqiao, LuHong City, duanqiaopu and other towns. It leaves the county at duanqiaopu Cheyou village and enters Xiangjiang River near Gaoxi town.
