Liuyang City, a county-level city under the jurisdiction of Hunan Province, is managed by Changsha City. It is named because the county seat is located in the north of Liushui. Liuyang is located in the border of Hunan and Jiangxi, north of the east of Hunan. It was the throat of Wu and Chu in ancient times. It is the vice center of Changsha, the provincial capital, and the regional central city of Hunan and Jiangxi. Liuyang covers an area of 5007.75 square kilometers. In 209, Linxiang county was established as Liuyang County. In 708, Liuyang County was restored. In January 1993, Liuyang County was established as a city (county level). There are three main mountains in Lianyun, Dawei and Jiuling.
In 2018, Liuyang achieved a GDP of 134.21 billion yuan and a general public budget revenue of 11.33 billion yuan. In May 2020, it will be listed in the demonstration list of new urbanization construction in the county. In 2020, it has achieved remarkable results in real work, and has been announced by Hunan Provincial People's government as a county or city with remarkable achievements in promoting high-quality development, and given a standard reward of 1 million yuan. Historical evolution
Liuyang belonged to Jingzhou in ancient Jiuzhou, Chu in Warring States and Linxiang in Qin and Han Dynasties.
In the 14th year of Jian'an (209) of the Eastern Han Dynasty, Linxiang county was established as Liuyang County, one of the four salary cities of Zhou Yu.
In 607, Liuyang County was merged into Changsha County.
In 708, Liuyang County was restored.
In the first year of Yuanzhen (1295), Liuyang County was promoted to Liuyang Prefecture.
In 1369, Liuyang County was reduced to Liuyang County, belonging to Changsha Prefecture.
In 1912, Liuyang County belonged to Changbao road.
In 1914, Changbao road was renamed Xiangjiang Road.
In 1926, Liuyang County was the first administrative supervision district.
On July 19, 1949, Liuyang was liberated; in August, Liuyang County belonged to Changsha special district.
In September 1952, Liuyang County was changed into Xiangtan district.

Nanchuan River, also known as Lushui River, originates from Jinzhong Lake in Wanzai, Jiangxi Province, flows into Liuyang in gaijiang River, and then flows through Liling and Liukou in Zhuzhou to Xiangjiang River. The total length is 75 km, the length of Liuyang is 61.4 km, and the drainage area is 661 square kilometers.
